Review of chapter "The Picture Emerges." from Oxnate
“I almost expected the man in Rumil’s drawing to suggest that you, my Lord King, must then be the offspring of Lord Elrond and a dwarf – possibly Lord Gimli himself – but he put his nose in the air and marched off…”

Question out of left field:

-- Do you know anything about the LoTR canon about human (second born) creation? For some reason, the idea that humans came from relations with a male dwarf and an elleth has stuck in my mind. It would explain why males have beards but females do not.

Anyway, ignore my incoherent ramblings and continue with whatever it is you're doing.
Comments from author:
I think they were just 'created', like the elves, by Iluvatar. They were 'put into the world' at the first rising of the sun. And Tolkien says that, like the elves, 'they awoke'.

Although your version is actually much more fun - it would make really good folk-lore for somewhere in ME. I wonder if it would be the lore of elves, dwarves, or men themselves?

Review of chapter "Reaching Conclusions." from Dara
I love all of the stories in this series, but this is definately my favourite one. You've managed to make Middle-Earth your own in a way I've never seen done to such an extend in a fanfiction before. The characters are still true to the Lord of the Rings series but you gave them... more. It's like you took the basis of Arda, its races, peoples and each of these characters and made them shine in a new way. I love Dawn and how she is growing into her new self and still learning about this world and the elves. And I love the relationship between her and Elladan, Elrohir, Rumil, Orophin, Legolas, Arwen and all the others. This story was truly a work of art and I saved it on my computer as a back-up in case it ever mysteriously disappears because it - along with the rest of this series - is someting I can read time and again and enjoy every single time.
Comments from author:
Thank you so much for this lovely review. I am genuinely thrilled to think that you like it so much, and that my stories work so well for you.

I shall hug this review to my chest and come back to it when writing is hard!

Review of chapter "Reaching Conclusions." from Oxnate
The **Masterpiece** of a wonderful series. I just want to point out to anyone thinking about reading this that you really don't need to know much about the Lord of the Rings or even Buffy to understand and love this story. Pretty much everything is explained here.

Read this story. The only reason I am recommending Return of The Key instead of this one is to lead more people to this series. (as it already has more reviews and is the beginning of the series.)

If you need a little background on why Dawn is now called Tindómë, then you can read first but this one does stand well on its own.
Comments from author:
Again, thank you for such a wonderful review. I think it could well be the best of the series, so far, too - and it is lovely to know that you agree.

(There is another one planned that will probably a similar length, and takes off from the last lines of Return of The Key...)

Review of chapter "Tell Me About Brotherhood." from Kalliza
Just started reading this series. I think this is very well explaining the familial relationships, as well as friendship and community ones, in your version of the Tolkein Elves.

Looking forward to reading the story about their first visit to Legolas's new domain!
Comments from author:
I'm really glad that you are enjoying them - thank you so much for taking the time to let me know.

There is a short, short, story about that first visit - it is called 'Strawberry Kisses' and is one of the Small Returns. Then there is 'Left Behind!' set a very short time later.

Review of chapter "Reaching Conclusions." from Drix
I know I'm reviewing a lot, but you are a very appreciated author! i just got finished rereading this. Elo! Still my favorite in the series. I'm curious, is the next story going to be about Tindome's first time in Eryn Ithil?
Comments from author:
Gosh sorry, just noticed this comment unanswered - my apologies. And you will doubtless have realised that 'Left Behind' covered her first year in Eryn Ithil - and 'Strawberry Kisses' in 'For Small Returns' covers her very first visit there - about 3 or 4 days after the least line of 'Brotherhood'.

Apologies again for not noticing this one!

Review of chapter "Moving On." from (Past Donor)Joyful
We're playing D&D, while I sit here quietly re-reading (the party is split, so my character is on hold) while drinking my diluted wine, and thinking about you. Keep up the good work!
Comments from author:
I used to quite like intervals like that in D&D, too.

I'm about to post chapter 2 of the new one... waves it in front of Joyful like a carrot on a stick!

Review of chapter "Leaving Lorien." from (Past Donor)Joyful
So, lately I've taken to putting ice cubes in my red wine to water it down a bit. I like wine, but as somebody who didn't have any wine growing up except communion wine, it can be a bit strong. So, often, as I water my wine down with ice, I feel a bit like Tindome and it makes me smile.
Comments from author:
:~) And now, if we have red wine when I am at my sister's birthday lunch today, I will think of YOU!

I really liked this story, and I'm glad it's finished, but I'm hoping it isn't the last story of Tindome's world.

The "Return of the Key" series is by far my favorite series on TTH. Please write more.

Thank you - I am so glad that you enjoyed it.

I am going back to 'A Winter Tale' now to finish it - and there are still a lot of stories on my timeline, waiting to be written. I hope to be able to keep this series going for a long time yet.

Review of chapter "Reaching Conclusions." from (Current Donor)MarcusRowland
So, I will walk through the fire
Cause where else can I turn?
I will walk through the fire
And let it...

...Well, do nothing if you're Gimli (hope his beard didn't catch fire) but presumably moderately dangerous for everyone else.

I'll bet a LOT of people crossed their legs when Dawn gave evidence.

That was a great ending to a wonderful story, looking forward to more in the next story soon.

"I'll bet a LOT of people crossed their legs when Dawn gave evidence."

Yes - I rather think they might have done!

It is a pity that Dawn was with Sweet when Buffy sang that song - although a slightly drunken rendition might have disillusioned some people who rate Elven singing so highly...

Review of chapter "Reaching Conclusions." from (Recent Donor)Luna
Ah!!!! The end!!! I loved your losing line- you are indeed the witty one.

This is one of my favorite stories on this site-- you are a very talented and creative writer! I was pleased with Dawn's silly drunkenness and her interactions with the others. Having Rumil make that spot in the city become a 'good' memory was quite cute.

The groin is a good place – he would bleed a lot.”- ha, very nice.

And Eowyn wondering about the elves--- haha. Lovely!

Good moment describing how all the people of the castle found 'pleasures of the flesh'. Aw, and Gimli is so cute ;)

Now I must wonder what this trip to Legolas' home will be... Hmmm...

Well done!!
Comments from author:
Thank you so much.

Dawn/Tindómë has learnt to hold her wine a little better than she did on Aragorn's coronation day!

I do think that Éowyn might be working quite hard to convince herself there...

I may write this first visit to Eryn Ithil, or I may leave it to your imagination - but this is the visit where, as Rumil says in A Winter Tale they "met Elves who had always lived where life and time had flowed, where elflings still were born."

It is because of this visit that Tindómë, and the brothers, decide that they want to move to Eryn Ithil to live - which is why it is Legolas et al that come look for her in Return of The Key rather than it being Celeborn. So, an important decision to visit - or they might have stayed in Lorien and moved to East Lorien with Celeborn.

And Tindómë would like you to know that the importance of this visit has nothing, absolutely nothing, (...m'kay, almost totally nothing, so not more than -ooh - 1 or 2%...) to do with Galanthir's comment that if she wanted more she'd have to visit Eryn Ithil... :~)

Edited later when I realised that the quote from Rumil had somehow not appeared!

Review of chapter "Reaching Conclusions." from starshinedown
An appropriate (and, yey!) wide-open ending to one my favorite stories on this site. The section that had Eowyn ruminating on the asexual nature of the elves had me dying of laughter. Well played, well played. If only she knew!

Thank you so much for such an entertaining journey through Middle Earth. It has been a delight to read, and I look forward to reading whatever other stories you might write.
Comments from author:
Thank you. I am so glad that you enjoyed it.

I do think perhaps Éowyn had to work quite hard to convince herself, there!

I am going back to the Winter Tale now - the next chapter of that should be here in about ten days or so.

Review of chapter "Kisses, stardom, and wild wood Elves." from (Recent Donor)Luna
Yay!! A new chapter!!

Okay, really enjoyed the kiss with Galanthir (sp?), he seems like quite the sly one. Its fun that Dawn can do that and not deal with crazy jealousy- your elves are cool :)

Enjoyed the rapport between Arwen and Dawn- I like how you subetly decribe the actions of the elves, such as Arwen's 'fleeting expression' of warning.

Rumil/Orophin sex humor is *always* amusing hahaha

Enjoyed the description of the dance- very interesting. And quite funny when random Gondor boy hurried up and left Dawn alone when he saw Galanthir :)

I love this story, its one of my favorites. Great job!
Comments from author:
Thank you - it's always interesting to see how other people see 'my' characters - I don't really think of Galanthir as exactly sly - apart from when he is 'under-cover' for Legolas. After all he did send a clear message to both Tindómë and Rumil, via Legolas, that he was going to 'claim a midsummer kiss'... I see him as, compared with the Gondorians, em - 'differently moralled'?!!

So glad you've enjoyed - I have another 2,500 words written, and think there will only be another 3,000 or so to go - so probably one long chapter or two shorter ones.

But then I will go back to finish the Winter Tale!
