Review:
Great story - John Munch and Fin Tutuola just have not been used often enough lately in SVU and they are just as great to me as Olivia and Elliott. You did Munch beautifully here...! Thanks for writing this one.
Comments from author:
:) Thank you so much! I was worried to tackle Munch because he is such a difficult character, due to his personality, and how little screen time he gets. So I'm glad that I was able to get him right :)

Review:
Major plot hole. Normal humans would simply not have been able to get the jump on Buffy this way. Unless there were two dozen of them, and then I can only imagine someone would have heard the commotion.

Is this well written, yes. And if the person who had been attacked was Dawn, or even Xander I'd be right there with all those people who gave this story positive reviews. But those people are ignoring that one major flaw. An explanation needs to be made for something like this to happen to Buffy, and it isn't the reader's job to supply that explanation.
Comments from author:
Why wouldn't one normal human be able to take Buffy down? Why would two dozen suddenly do the trick? She isn't invincible. Yes, she is stronger than normal humans, stronger than demons, but at the end of the day she is human.

And I strongly believe that an explanation or a reenactment of the rape is not necessary. In fact it is something I'm not going to do. I think that leaving it open for readers to infer what they wish is the best, given the content of this ficlet.

Review:
Good Story.

If you decide to continue this, may I suggest the children of member's killed in the First's demolition of Travers' Council enraged at Buffy's restructuring practically spitting in the face of their parent's memory. They could have access to the Cruciamentum syrum. Just a thought.

Thank you for the review. If there is a sequel hopefully some of those questions will be answered.

Review of chapter "The Hands of Men" from LindsayR
Review:
This was really good. Munch never gets enough screen time or staring roles in fic. I'd love to read more, perhaps where Giles gets to the bad guys first...just a thought. Great story!
Comments from author:
I absolutely adore Munch. He is such a fantastic character. Thanks for the review :)

Review:
A grim subject matter, but I can see Munch as a less-psychotic friend from Giles' younger days, and I can definitely see Buffy-as-survivor summoning the strength and courage to utter that last reminder, that Munch had better find the perps before Giles does.
Comments from author:
Thank you for the review! I'm really glad that you liked the way I handled it.

Very well done. Tightly written, well structured, and a respectful treatment of a difficult subject. Excellent integration of the two universes.

Review:
*whistles* Ouch. Those guys must have gotten the drop on Buffy to have been able to do that to her, otherwise she'd have sent the lot of them to the ICU. I can imagine Giles would need some kind of physical link to the persons responsible in order to find them, but I have a feeling he'd have no trouble whatsoever obtaining said physical link by means magical or mundane. A few decades in a Hell dimension would suit nicely as punishment for them, that way Giles wouldn't have to lie when he said that he didn't kill them and didn't harm them.

You said: "Those guys must have gotten the drop on Buffy to have been able to do that to her, otherwise she'd have sent the lot of them to the ICU." --Thank you!

Hell would be very convenient, wouldn't it?

Review:
Dark but interesting. I would love a sequel. I mean Buffy needs to get even and I so agree Giles will go balistic.
Comments from author:
Thank you for the review :)

If the muse heads in the sequel direction there are plenty of loose ends that need to be tied up.

Review:
This makes extraordinarily little sense - exactly how did even a *group* of normal humans do this to *Buffy* of all people without all of them ending up dead or at least out of any possible fight in under 10 seconds flat?

Not buying it - AT ALL.
Comments from author:
In season 2, episode 12 “Bad Eggs” Cordelia, a human, takes Buffy down and out with a crowbar to the face. If a teenage Cordelia could take out a Slayer with one blow with a heavy object then I’m not seeing how you find it so difficult to grasp the concept of a group of men overpowering her if they caught her by surprise. Also it’s been shown that chloroform works on a Slayer just as well as it works on a human.

The actual scene of the rape wasn’t shown or discussed in detail because I felt no need to glorify the act. The focus of this fic was the repercussions of what happened and while I agree that Buffy, or any Slayer for that matter, would be difficult to take on or down. I do not believe they are infallible.

Review:
Disturbing, but nonetheless well-done.

And I would LOVE to see a follow-up describing John finding whatever might remains after Ripper locates the perps who hurt his daughter.

This is assuming, of course, that he leaves anything that could even be identified as human.
Comments from author:
Thank you for the response. I'm glad that besides the subject matter you found the story enjoyable.

Yes, I'd imagine Ripper would only leave bits, tiny bits, behind.
