Just found this story and think it's fantastic.

It was enjoyable.. I think the whole River/Xander thing moved a bit fast, but on the whole, it was an enjoyable read..

Great story. I thought Xander was a little Mary-sue-ish in that he had the solution for every problem, but I liked him anyway.

Mario's letter was a heartbreaker. Good writing there.

I love this story just as much as all your brother's other work, its most excellent and I love to see what he comes up with next. Especially his various Xander stories.

Since I love you and your brother's stories so much I decided to re-read some of your stories, and in reading this one I saw up with this:

Simon looked up at them, his eyes red, and spoke. “Right now, what I want, more than anything else in the whole system, is to see both of you dying painfully. I want to stand there and watch it,” he said in a sad, calm voice. “I'm a doctor. I followed the Hippocratic Oath my whole life. But for you, and only for you, I would just stand there, doing nothing except letting it happen. Can you give that to me?”

Reminds me a bit of this fun quote from Babylon 5:
Vir Cotto: I'd like to live just long enough to be there when they cut off your head and stick it on a pike as a warning to the next ten generations that some favors come with too high a price. I would look up at your lifeless eyes and wave like this.

I just discovered this story in my quest to avoid work and, may I say, I'm sorry actual work kept interrupting. As always, your Xander has just the right amount of humor and dawning maturity. I also really dug your take on River. It's often tempting to make her too out-there, but you reached a happy medium between lucid, insightful and just kind of nuts. Over all, great read and an excellent distraction from gainful employment.

Aww, what a great ending to what was a wonderfully entertaining story! Really loved the plot and pacing... It was very well written. Also I completely adored the River/Xander relationship. Nicely done :)
