.
The story grows on one, and keeps one's interest. I like the novelty of Xander holding a Chair at Miskatonic.

Xander's inspired croaking frog technique was hilarious, even given the serious nature of the situation. I was also very impressed by Xander's comment, "I would never willingly inflict my mind on anyone".

The only significant and fairly obvious negative thing, story-telling-wise, I can think of is that it seems unlikely they'd keep falling for the obvious traps and diversions, and that they left Dawn so exposed. They aren't being portrayed as sufficiently aware of obvious tactical and strategic planning when I think that if this were "real-life" people such as these would be much more aware and acting accordingly.

That is of course, just my personal view of how if this were "real-life" Xander and others would think and act. The story currently is showing that Xander et all have become extremely lax vis-a-vis security...that they've lost their edge. They need to acknowledge that and really step-up their game.

For example, it was pretty obvious that attempts by the bad guys would be made to separate Dawn from the others to make her easier to acquire, yet Xander et al didn't seem to even think of that tactic until it was of course shoved in their faces...and possibly too late (end of item 18). In "real-life" the instant a group like theirs learned someone was even possibly looking for Dawn they would have ratcheted up their security to absurd levels.

Isolating a kidnapping/assassination target from maximum protection is one of the oldest tactics in the world, and in "real-life" characters such as Xander and/or Alistair would have seen that coming from miles away. Had this been "real-life", a team like theirs would have made sure Dawn was at SGC and ready to go through the Stargate, and even possibly already off-world, BEFORE they attacked the Esoteric Order of Dagon (EOD) HQ. They would never have considered leaving Dawn at the University to be adequate protection no matter how good they thought their protections were. I know I wouldn't. I think also that in "real-life" Xander in particular already would have considered the possibility they'd been infiltrated no matter how thorough their vetting process might have been and they would have been looking into that possibility at the same time they started looking for EOD facilities.

I suppose there's only one conclusion to draw from this stratagem; Glorificus has returned and she's got a whole new bag of tricks. ..

Review of chapter "Fallout and Field Trips" from DarthTenebrus

Were you channelling Anakin Skywalker when you wrote Xander's African extermination scene?

"I killed them...I killed them all. They're dead, every single one of them!.......And not just the men.....but the WOMEN! And the CHILDREN, TOO!! They're like animals! And I slaughtered them like animals!! I HATE THEM!!!!"

Because that's how Xander started to sound as I read the scene. Wow.....intense.

Review of chapter "The Charge of the Very Light Brigade" from DarthTenebrus
Review:
Very engrossing so far. I'm wondering what that was in the tomb that would be classified as just a guardian, if it spooked Doc Xander and Faith so horribly; I'm pretty sure the real deal would have done immeasurably worse. And just looking at a still shot of the damned thing (how appropriate) caused Dawn, with the strongest stomach in the world (anyone remember pancakes with tuna fish and chocolate sauce? Or was it mustard?), to puke her guts out!

And summoning a Shoggoth?! Are these people nuts or did they simply take leave of their senses?! Let's all be glad they didn't try to summon Yog-Sothoth, or worse, Cthulhu!

I first found H P Lovecraft while in my teens. Now some 50 years later I still Have a copy of his complete works on my book shelf for rereading. This is a well written cross over and thank you for sharing with us. Please continue and now off to check out your other works.

Review of chapter "The Beginning of the End" from DarthTenebrus
Review:
Well begun. Very detailed and balanced, with the right amount of introspection and of dialogue without becoming terribly verbose, and the backstory for Doctor Xander Harris (such sweet irony. Or is it poetic justice? Old Tony would choke on his beer or shed a single tear into the bottle; his son has come a long way from the youthful slacker he began as...) was brilliant. You've managed to set the foundation for what I suspect is a brilliant crossover tale, since I have been fond of the works of Lovecraft, and he had a way with words in his tales.

Great to see more of this story, and looks likenthemgang is in a bind, but here's hoping they can get back to keep Dawn safe, and that when they get there, that they will be able to put this group out of action.

Its great that your muse came back, BUT a plothole that wasn't explained was why didn't they use another portal to get back to Dawn?

Thanks for pointing that out. The issue has been dealt with.

Great! Glad to see more of this. And while I've liked this from the start, I've now read my first Lovecraft story (Mountains of Madness) and do intend to read more, so I'm starting to appreciate this all the more for that.

Thanks for writing and sharing it with us!
