Review of chapter "Storm Rising" from BlueEyedBrigadier
Review:
Absolutely stunning stuff! The returned threat of Glory and her minions was a brilliant twist, and having Dawn kidnapped steps from safety is the kind of last-minute drama a good Whedonverse tale or crossover needs to have!

Can't wait for more to arrive!

"As far as Buffy could tell, the only reason it was still standing was because the termites were all holding hands."

That was fucking brilliant.

Review of chapter "What I Did On My Summer Vacation. Pt. 2" from (Current Donor)Sithspit
Review:
One quick note: "head wound/head injury" and "wound to the head" mean vastly different things. A "head wound" means an injury to the brain; if Giles suffered a concussion from the graze (HIGHLY likely due to it coming from an M82!), then he'd have a head injury, because the brain was affected. However, a simple physical injury to the cranium that does not involve the brain is a "wound to the head". As a paramedic, we had to phrase this very carefully so as to paint the correct picture to the receiving physician when we called in a patient report en route to the ED.

Review:
I have one question...you said the shooter used an M82 on Andrew and Giles. You mean the Barrett M82, correct?

If the bullet that knicked Giles' liver was the one that went through Andrew's back, the bullet would have killed both men; a hit anywhere in the torso from a .50 caliber bullet from an M82 is unavoidably lethal, even if it goes through another person first...it would blow both men in half.

Review of chapter "Storm Rising" from Harry
Review:
If Glory IS looking to come back and needs Dawn to both open the doorway AND be a new host body, this is not good! Time to figure out just WHERE her cult followers are at, and MAKE THEM TALK! No more Mr. Nice Guy. No, No, NO. Time to let that part of Xander out that has had to deal with all the stuff that his parents dealt him, and let HIM go to work on them, along with Willow. As I said, no more Mr. Nice Guy. Time to go KLINGON on these fools!

.
The story grows on one, and keeps one's interest. I like the novelty of Xander holding a Chair at Miskatonic.

Xander's inspired croaking frog technique was hilarious, even given the serious nature of the situation. I was also very impressed by Xander's comment, "I would never willingly inflict my mind on anyone".

The only significant and fairly obvious negative thing, story-telling-wise, I can think of is that it seems unlikely they'd keep falling for the obvious traps and diversions, and that they left Dawn so exposed. They aren't being portrayed as sufficiently aware of obvious tactical and strategic planning when I think that if this were "real-life" people such as these would be much more aware and acting accordingly.

That is of course, just my personal view of how if this were "real-life" Xander and others would think and act. The story currently is showing that Xander et all have become extremely lax vis-a-vis security...that they've lost their edge. They need to acknowledge that and really step-up their game.

For example, it was pretty obvious that attempts by the bad guys would be made to separate Dawn from the others to make her easier to acquire, yet Xander et al didn't seem to even think of that tactic until it was of course shoved in their faces...and possibly too late (end of item 18). In "real-life" the instant a group like theirs learned someone was even possibly looking for Dawn they would have ratcheted up their security to absurd levels.

Isolating a kidnapping/assassination target from maximum protection is one of the oldest tactics in the world, and in "real-life" characters such as Xander and/or Alistair would have seen that coming from miles away. Had this been "real-life", a team like theirs would have made sure Dawn was at SGC and ready to go through the Stargate, and even possibly already off-world, BEFORE they attacked the Esoteric Order of Dagon (EOD) HQ. They would never have considered leaving Dawn at the University to be adequate protection no matter how good they thought their protections were. I know I wouldn't. I think also that in "real-life" Xander in particular already would have considered the possibility they'd been infiltrated no matter how thorough their vetting process might have been and they would have been looking into that possibility at the same time they started looking for EOD facilities.

I suppose there's only one conclusion to draw from this stratagem; Glorificus has returned and she's got a whole new bag of tricks. ..
