Review of chapter "Chapter Twelve" from TinMan
This.... I can't really articulate how it feels to read this story.

The truth is, I'm a romantic. I enjoyed the twilight books, souly because of the romance. I've never reread them since, but it was nice if not epic.

I Need my romance. Not too often, but from time to time. This was perfect, and I can't wait to see where this series goes from here.

Review of chapter "Chapter Twelve" from ShyBob
Nice view of grown-up Xander and Buffy, with some damn funny lines thrown in for good measure. Laughed Coke Zero up my nose a couple of times :)
Comments from author:
There's still a fair few hints of the Xander and Buffy we saw in the first three seasons. But I wanted to portray the two of them as two young adults who have embraced the challenges facing them post-Chosen. It is a portrayal which pointedly ignores the Season 8 comics.

The easiest ship to write for Xander is with Faith. I find her voice the easiest to approximate, characterwise. Buffy? Not so easily.

Love this story. Read it when there was only two chapters and just found it completed now. I feel lucky!

Review of chapter "Chapter Twelve" from Oakheart
What we forget, when we watch a TV show or a movie - or even in reading a fanfic - is that we're seeing a sliver of the protagonist's life. A movie is considered a pinnacle of a life, story telling wise, and even as TV shows are more scaled to the everyday than the climactic, every screen writer 'knows' that there must be drama and resolution, conflict and action.

This story, its introspective comfort level and daily affirmation, is the reason that a Buffy, a Xander, a Willow, or any other stalwart, goes out to confront evil or injustice with the determination of their soul. Life is to be lived, and cherished, and shared. Wow.

Thanks for a graceful, wonderful story.

Thank you for the wonderful, graceful review.

Reading it again, I see the flaws--long-winded explanations, clumsiness in phrasing, and other foibles. It is still what I consider my defining statement in BtVS fanfiction. I consider a story to be proud of.

An excellent story. I'm impressed with the humour and the development of the romance as well as the wonderful descriptions of locations.

Well done, and thanks for writing

Review of chapter "Chapter Twelve" from Gideon
Loved it! You wrote a great story. The relationship didn't seem too rushed and I liked seeing it grow slowly. It was nice seeing Buffy (and Xander) relaxing and not under pressure like they have been for so long. The humour was great too! Very funny lines. I was especially impressed by how you handled the Lie. I don't think I have seen such a serious and measured examination of Xander's actions before and I think it was true to character that he would not apologise. Personally I subscribe to the view that Buffy knew he was not telling her something at the time, even if she didn't know what he wasn't telling her, and that she knew he was trying to do what he thought was right and that she forgave him in that original moment. Your version works too though! And it injected some drama into their relationship which makes for a good story. Again, Well Done. I hope you continue to produce stories at this level.

Your comments were appreciated. "Tall Ship" was an experiment, and largely a successful one. I wanted to write a believable B/X romance without bashing or too much schmoop. I may have erred a bit in the schmoop department, mind!

Not a big Buffy/Xander fan, but you made it work. I enjoyed every bit of it. Excellent work!

Review of chapter "Chapter Twelve" from WitchyGrrl
Review: so completely perfect, I'm equal parts grinning like a loon and trying not to sob hysterically--from happiness, of course. :P
You nailed their voices so brilliantly, but added a maturity to that awesome Scooby language that works SO ridiculously well. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this!!!
Comments from author:
This remains one of my favorite stories of mine. There are things I'd cut or edit. But it still stands as an experiment I did in writing Buffy's voice, one of the hardest ones to capture when writing BtVS fic.

Glad you enjoyed!

Review of chapter "Chapter Twelve" from ncatt
This is about the only Buffy/Xander fic I've EVER read that doesn't make my teeth hurt.
Comments from author:
This fic was a personal challenge to see if I could write B/X without character bashing, "it was a drunken mistake", or too much angst. I laid on the schmoop a bit, mind. A guy has to indulge!

Review of chapter "Chapter Twelve" from Godogma
I don't normally like the Buffy and Xander pairing, hell most of the time after season 3 or so I dislike Buffy on principle - she's a moron and gets people killed with her "me slayer you do what I say" routine when other calmer and more rational minds could have prevailed - then again I can blame an idiot writer for that.

Excellent story however, your Buffy is much more mature and intelligent than her counterpart on the show and although I don't necessarily agree with the way you had Xander thinking when he explained the whole sent Angel to hell bit its a perfectly reasonable explanation and was written well.

A1 writing. Bravo! :)
Comments from author:
Thanks! I found that Season Seven ignored much of her hard-won experiences during S6. The Spike/Buffy thing crowded out a lot of the potential we saw in the S7 premiere, when she had clearly had some time to recover.

The Buffy in this story was a direct reaction to the Season Eight comics portrayal, with its unwillingness to let go of the angst and unhappiness. I wanted a Buffy who had realized potential of that smile at the end of "Chosen": seen the world, built a life, created something *amazing* that could stand as her legacy. A Buffy who not only saved the world, but changed it.
