Review of chapter "I Am The Walrus" from Zarohk
Review:
What the hell were you on when you wrote this? It's a wonderfully sad, hilarious, strange ode to Buffy and the Beatles (now there's something I never thought I'd write!) and yet it tugs at the heartstrings so tenderly. Great job. You should post a challenged based on this story: "The lyrics to a Beatles song are a prophecy for a canon event."
Comments from author:
Thank you!

It was an answer to a challenge, as I stated at the end, and it defeated me for quite a while until a certain song came on the radio and everything just fell into place. I can't post a challenge based on an answer to a challenge; there would be a danger that it would cause the universe to implode (as foretold in 'Across the Universe').

I wish Dawn had been a Walrus!
Fantastic story! The internal consistency and relevance of song lyrics are a little scary if I am being honest. I think everyone comes out of this better off than if Dawn had been Human. Well maybe not Dawn, but she seems happy enough with clams and pilchard.
Well done to you, and The Beatles!
Comments from author:
Thank you!

Of course if Dawn had been a Walrus then Curiouslywombat wouldn't have been able to write her 'Return of the Key' LotR/BtVS stories. Although now I'm tempted to do a story in which the walrus ends up in Middle Earth...

Review:
Very good.

Nice variation on April and the other side stories, especially Olaf's new home :D

I guess Joyce was saved because A: They had enough money for a carer outright and B: One was seen as necessary, period, because there was no extra child (even one with a school schedule) to pick up the slack from Buffy. Unless you count my much older half-brothers, I'm an only child and I live with my father, a married pair of carers and their born-on-the-job daughter. I help where I can, but I *definitely* owe my dad's stable health and emotional well-being to their alertness and caring.

I'm guessing that Buffy wound up in an especially good-feeling heaven because she died not only to save the world, but her sister, when killing her sister was physically an option. As here, she tried to kill the walrus, she, if raised, might be in a much better emotional state...

I wrote this because the challenge was so... strange that I saw it as a chance to write the crackiest fic ever. Alas Joss has now outdone me in that by several million light-years and has decreed that his mediocre crack!fic is canon. It's sapping my will to write in the Buffyverse.

This is, without a doubt, far and away, the very very weirdest thing I've ever been moved to tears by. There is absolutely nothing else like it in the entire universe.
Comments from author:
Indeed. It probably had to be fairly weird to meet the conditions of the challenge and I decided to go for as weird as it gets.

I feel I must bow before the master!

Until I read this I don't think I could have conceived of anyone making any kind of sense of those drug inspired lyrics. Congratulations!
Comments from author:
They all made perfect sense to me at the time.

Thank you!

Lol! A walrus! Very creative :) Tho I reckon Buffy should have pushed Paul off the tower. Then she wouldn't have to strangle it or what not. Lol. But very nice fic. Plenty of humour, great work.
Comments from author:
Thank you!

Buffy couldn't push Paul off the tower - she couldn't break the chains, which were designed to hold a frightened and angry ton-and-a-half walrus.

Ooooookay. That's one of the stranger stories I've read lately. I like what you did with the characters even with the strange. Looking forward to your next story. I hope your muse and schedule will allow you to write and post more chapters on more stories sometime soon. Keep up the good work. Zafaran {mailto:} zafaran {at} fastmail {dot} fm

Thank you! I have been short of writing time recently, which is why I've been posting old stories here, but I have some spare time this month and I'll be able to get going again.

You are a genius. Touching and hilarious, this piece is simply amazing. How long did it take to weave in all those songs?
Comments from author:
Thank you!

I started writing it on 19th July 2004 and finished on 15th August - so, almost a month.

Hey, does that make the Initiative squad that Riley joined after leaving Buffy Sgt. Pepper's Lonley Hearts Club Band? (One can only hope? ;})
Comments from author:
That would work; Riley and Sam could come in 'OMWF' instead of 'As You Were', in colourful uniforms with frogged jackets instead of black kevlar, and do a number or two.

I don't really want to stop the show,
But I thought that you might like to know,
That the singer's going to sing a song,
And he wants you all to sing along.
So let me introduce to you
The one and only Riley Finn
And Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band...

A truly inspired fic.

Once they managed to solve the problem of getting a ton and a half of marine mammal down from Glory's rickety tower, yes he is.

Review:
Nifty! I'm guessing after Willow teleported Glory up into the sky, that Glory was wearing diamond earrings or something... or the diamonds could have been stars.... or the minds of the now insane people. Beatles songs as prophesies... wow. It could have been the Stones. Although, there is still the First....
Comments from author:
It could have been the Stones if they'd ever done a song about a walrus. In the early 60s I was more into the Stones than the Beatles, and more into the Small Faces, the Hollies, and the Who than either. Then I discovered Cream...

Hang on; I'm Giles, aren't I?
