Perfect tribute, and very suprising. I just didn't put it together until the line about the oval-headed owner, LOL.
Although the moment I knew he was dying I felt a little touched, and I certainly wasn't disappointed by the level of emotion in this work.
the only thing that I saw differently was Xander, upon realizing what was happening, Snoopy-dancing in front of the government soldiers to cheer up the childeren. It would have been a little trite, but funny-as-hell to watch the soldiers' reactions!

It was hard work finding a synonym for round-headed that didn't sound labored, and I don't think I quite pulled it off.

Wow. I really enjoyed this. I think sometimes that a great writer can make almost anything plausible if they set it up correctly. This proves that point. I'll agree with the others that it's a little sad, but that sort of fits the universe. Overall, I'm impressed.
