It certainly would give him room to expend, which is one of Xander's future problems and he should know this. Or give him a controlable set of training and experimentation rooms. If such a thing could work, is another thing.
Review of chapter "Dealing With Stolen Property" from tammin
Review:
This chapter has added a most interesting twist. With Vanyel's lifebonded partner still alive, I wonder if he is still going to be a brooding wonder. Will Xander open contact with the Heralds and the Companions of Valdemar? Also, I wonder if he will still have a close relationship with the Tayledras or will the people of the Heartland take that place? Personally I hope that you keep both some way as Valdemar and the Tayledras would be poorer for not knowing the other. I look forward to reading the next installment.

Wow. Not that familiar with the books, but has the feel of them that I remember in the last chapter.

OH the AGONY, oh the TORTURE! YOU MUST update soon, or I will PERISH!! Sorry, felt like being overly dramatic :P, It has been years since I've read the books and I think I only read 2 of this series, and I don't think they were consecutive.. *blinks for a moment and watches thoughts wander* Oh, but I really like what you are doing, and even with as little knowledge as I have, years of D&D allows me to kind of piece it together. Keep writing and I'll keep reading :)
If Xander (or Alex) is drawing on Urtho's memories, wouldn't he have remembered Skan? Skan was one of his unique gryphons, one of his favorites, he might not remember Amberdrake since they didn't really run in the same circles, but he definitely knew Skandranon. Skan was a master level mage, and in the process of escaping the cataclysm he got stuck in the gate for a little bit and it turned his feathers white due to overexposure to magic. Amberdrake has empathy and some Healing gift and is very skilled at all aspects of the kestra'chern profession, he was trained by Silver Veil until she apprenticed him to Lorenshallen before she travelled further south to the Haighlei lands. He became part of clan k'Leshya at some point after that and like the other Kaled'a'in allied with Urtho at the beginning of the Great Mage War and started serving his army. He marries Winterhart the trondi'irn and is the father of Silverblade. He and Skan are VIP's in the settlement of White Gryphon.
Hope that helps, the information is from "the Valdemar Companion" a great reference book for that whole universe, I love what I've read so far, this is the first Mercedes Lackey crossover I've seen on here, so awesome!

It wasn't so much that he didn't remember as that I didn't remember. Though Urtho is one of my favorite characters I read the Valdemar books far more ofter than the Mage Wars and him being a Mage slipped my mind I thought he had to be but didn't want to just guess
I'm really enjoying this fic, cliffhanger and all. I believe Skan was a master mage. I know mages are long lived but how is Xander going to live to the day he disappeared from Sunnydale.

First chapter, the lightning he had playing over him when he first appeared in Velgarth. At first I was planning on just saying that he had hit the energy from the Cataclysm and the Gate energy being time/space type froze his aging so he would never grow older. Now I think it would be easier to make him a Highlander-type Immortal. It'll be one or the other, I didn't want to cut him completely out of Sunnydale since I always figured he was one of the key characters even supposedly powerless
