I think you made Warren a little too 'evil'. He seemed more the type to protect his little sister. But if you account for sibling rivalry, jealousy, parents favouritisme, Faith's abilities to piss of people, especially family, protecting turned into controlling stuff. Okay, maybe then it would make sense.
