Alas, poor doomed wonderful Tara. I miss her still.
A touching tale, thank you.

Thanks for this, you have added a little sense to a senseless and terrible act. This fits well with what we know of Tara though, she would make this sccrifice for those she cared about in a heartbeat.

Once again, you got the Doctor down cold. And Sylvesters Doctor is not an easy one to do. Seeing that discussion with Tara prepared her for what would happen, and gave Red the strenght to do what was needed in about a year. Another top notch story!

Review of chapter "The Doctor's Gamble" from Kremer
Review:
Nicely done - this story was emotional, yet thought-provoking and empowering at the same time.

I'm pretty ignorant about the Dr. Who-verse, but I think this premise is powerful enough that it could have worked with other characters as well, even Whistler from the PTB. Having the Doctor do it, though, was a good choice.

I just wondered, after reading, what Tara saw, if anything, about his aura, and if that may have helped make her decision.
Comments from author:
Long story short:- Time Lords are agents of time and order. By that I mean structure, not good or evil just a structure to the universe for people to live in. It's why it doesn't literally rain cats and dogs. Why white isn't black. At least in the confines of the story.

The Doctor embraces that, using his knowledge and abilities to help others. By reading his "aura" Tara sees his emotions. He's sad, determined, regretful and passionate. If he was lying she'd be able to tell. That, combined with the power of a Time Lord, convinced her he was on the level.

There are other things but Time Lords are complex beings and with almost 50 years worth of back story. I can't really going on to it.

Thanks for the review.

You made me cry and I love you for it.
Comments from author:
If I can do that, thank you. I wanted to write an emotional-punch-to-the-gut moment and I guess I got on.

One and a half-hankies.
Comments from author:
I don't quite get that? Did you dry so much you used up one and a half hankies? Did I anger you so much that you tore them apart rather than put your fist through the screen?

I'd rather hope in the former in which case, Thank you
Otherwise... Sorry?

Thanks

Review:
The Seventh is my fave Doctor. It might have something to do with Ace being my favorite companion, but also the role of trickster as destroyer. Out of the Doctors he seems to be the one that had to be the hatchet man on more occasions as not.

An interesting side story would be what Ace is up to while this is going on.
Comments from author:
Look, let's just say Ace's side story involves:- nitro 9, a demon nest, Spike and a time paradox.
It will take to long to go into it, for now...

As for the seventh Doctor, he's the one I feel could most live with the difficult decisions. That's why he made them and why he was needed for this story.
Thanks for the review.

Review:
Wow. I can see it. I can see the Doctor doing it, and I can definitely see Tara making the choice.

It's funny...normally I skip over one-shots. Normally, I prefer reading longer stories. But, I love the Doctor, and have never quite forgiven Joss for killing Tara when he did.

Sad, because you know what is going to happen. Poignant, for the same. Thank you for writing and sharing :)
Comments from author:
I like longer stories myself, but I still like reading quick one shots.

I wanted to give Tara's death a bit more meaning, rather than a random death with questionable ballistics. I know it's an old argument, but how did the bullet hit her? Unless someone was playing with physics on an epic scale the only thing that would have been shot would be a passing bird!.

Thanks for the review.

Review:
well written story Don't really know the seventh Doctor but it was an interesting Idea. That said I have always hated the fact that Terra had to die, in all the seasons of Buffy I can honestly say that the sixth was my least favorite and Terra dieing was one of the major reasons for that I could go into some of the other reasons but won't or this review would be way to long.
Still an OK story keep up the good work.
Comments from author:
If you don't know much about the Seventh Doctor I suggest you get a hold of one of the DVD's. Curse of Fenric or Remembrance Of the Daleks. While they are two of the later seasons McCoy (the actor) had the role down and the Writers had chosen a much Darker direction for the Doctor's actions

As For Tara's death... Yes the Sixth season was a disappointment but the seventh was much better. Tara was a fantastic character and while it was a shame for her to die it was just the emotional kick in the pants the series needed to develop further.

Thanks for the Review

Review:
DAMN...

VERY effective bit of work; I can DEFINITELY see the Seventh Doctor doing that kind of thing!

He might have always done the right thing in the LONG term, but he was also the Doctor who was willing to do the WRONG thing- or at least the morally ambiguous thing- in the SHORT term, and you definitely captured that aspect of his personality here.

And Tara's reaction to the news...

Very in-character for her, I have to say; congratulations.
Comments from author:
Thank you for the review. I love the seventh Doctor for exactly the reason's you point out

I hoped to make Tara's death more of a martyrs sacrifice and I think it worked

Thanks Again
