Review of chapter "Shattering a Slayer" from BuffyKaibaHunt
How extraordinary! :) I like it. Very well-written as well. :)
However, Larry's last name isn't Wood. It's Blaisdell. I know, as I've done some research using the Buffy wiki, and it said that the actor who played Larry is named Larry Bagby III. Pretty cool, in my opinion.

Review of chapter "Shattering a Slayer" from Greywizard
Just found this, and have to tell you that it's quite well written, despite the unpleasant subject matter.
The characterizations are pretty much spot on, as well as everyone's reactions.
Given the time frame, I'd say that it's quite likely that Xander would seek to use the new skills and knowledge he's just gained to make sure that Spike (and Angel, too, if things should happen to fall the right way) won't be able to cause any further trouble in town by raiding the local armory much sooner in this time frame and procuring whatever supplies he might think would be useful in dealing with Spike and his minions, while Giles locates Ethan and makes his 'appreciation' of his old friend's 'joke' quite clear. (It's even possible that Ethan might survive Giles' thanks.)
Does/will Joyce know that Buffy was assaulted?
And is anyone arranging for Buffy to talk to a qualified psychologist or therapist? Because that type of assault is NOT something that someone can just walk away from without severe emotional trauma, regardless of who they might be. I can see Jenny offering to help out and provide an ear for Buffy to talk to, but a licensed professional is definitely preferred.
The Scooby-verse that develops from this 'incident' is going to be substantially different from canon, especially given that 'Lady Giles' had some knowledge of Angel/Angelus, and that would definitely color Buffy's later interactions with Angel to a significant degree.
All in all, well written, as I said, but still somewhat depressing and upsetting.
Comments from author:
I'm glad you found it depressing and upsetting. That was the idea. I suspect part of what drove me to write this was a module I did in my final semester at uni entitled 'War and Memory'. Among other things, it examined the effects of trauma on the mind. I quite enjoyed the psychological aspects, and that's also what drove me to write in the present tense.
Currently there are no plans to continue the story, although now you've written all those questions you're making me want to! Certainly it would change Buffy significantly and she would be incapable of continuing a relationship with Angel for two reasons: Lady Elizabeth's knowledge and her own knowledge that his vampire half committed rape and similar tortures. Despite being a different person, I think she would be incapable of differing between them in this respect. That's ignoring anything Angel might have told her about his human life where he was a drunken wastrel who, at the very least, seduced the servants.
Definitely Xander would be finding a way of taking out demons with his new knowledge - I think this would drive him into doing some proper training, probably with Giles' help. And personally, if Ethan survived Giles' 'conversation' with him regarding these events, I suspect he would never walk again. One does wonder if even Ethan would recoil at this... Psychologies are interesting things and a man who glorifies in blood and terror and even murder may still recoil at rape. On the other hand, summoning demons could be classed as a metaphysical form of rape...
I'm glad that you like the characterisation and that everything worked. I enjoy your writing, so getting a review from you is a real treat! Thanks for the thoughtful review.

This may be dark but it is very good.
I do wish you would add on to it.
I would like to think Spike is the one who finishes it even if he did taunt Buffy.
Comments from author:
I don't know who finished off Larry. Spike could have, but I rather think he wandered off elsewhere to enjoy himself. Part of me wonders if Angel didn't do it. In either case, it's left up to the imagination.
No current plans to continue, but I won't say never. It would certainly be an interesting AU to explore.

I feel sorry for the real Larry, but your story is a lot more "realistic" than the show's Helloween was. But I would hate to be either Angel or Spike now that Xander is in a killing mood.
Comments from author:
Thanks. It did seem that the after-effects of 'Halloween' were overwhelmingly positive, especially when one considers just how disastrous it truly could have been. I wanted to explore one possible avenue, especially since Pirate!Larry does try to attack Buffy. And yeah, I feel sorry for Larry too. He was an idiot and bully, but presumably most of that can be attributed to his attempts to suppress his sexuality. I did consider having Buffy as having killed him - and it could still have happened, and he was fed upon before his blood got too cold.
Yeah, Xander would definitely be a problem for Spike or Angel. Giles just as much, if not more so. After all, Giles has killed before, even if he dislikes it.
