I do believe Spike as an enlightened vampire with a boosted IQ and pissed to boot is more than a match for an uppty machine that thinks it's a god. Of course, Ouroboros has the blended soul of Willow and Vamp-Willow and all the magic in the galaxy, so it's gonna get ugly.

How does a souless monster gain redemption? That version of Willow died an innocent
and has nothing to do with her killer. Good chapter though and Spikes turning is a nice
take on Drac's encounter with Buffy. I am very interested on Willow and babe Buffy's
new situation. Nice one.

It took me a while to hook into the groove of this story but I think I'm finally getting my brain around it's slippery edges.

Last time I checked, it takes a power higher than just a mere monk to create a Human soul.

Besides, Dawn is just a construct to house mystic forces.
A soul represents a long term transcendent investment by a Higher Power.
Since when does a mere construct need a soul?

Dawn was orginally intended as a temporary solution for a temporary problem.
I really don't think the monks thought things through.

The presistance of Dawn is a real problem.

Look on the brightside, the Ringworld dosen't have a soul either, yet.

Interesting story but by now the characters have very little visceral response from me, mirrors,
copies and quantum whatzits creating thingamajigs from whozits. wheew! Larry Niven is
one of the coolest fantasy people around so I'm helpless before this spinoff and its intrinsic
backstory.

Funny I was thinking the same thing myself.
I think it's time to add some meat to the bones.

PS: FYI, this story is s sequel to "Ring in the Sky." I think that should fill in the backstory.
