My Dear boy, I am far from the bloom of life and can say that in my youth I happily read most of Mr Charteris's "Saint" books, with this in mind I am able to categorically state with complete rectitude, fortitude and absolute certainty that this little story is very, very close to the "feel" that the original books used to impart to the reader.
Along with the original "Tarzan" novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs (all sadly out of print) made my childhood heaven and I miss them dreadfully, thank you kindly for a little taste of my childhood.

Thanks for the kind words - I grew up reading them and still have quite a few on my shelves, he's a wonderful character and I'm perpetually amazed that I'm the only person who seems to be writing fanfic.

I always love reading your Saint stories as I remember reading many of his stories and novels from my grandfather's collection of books and magazines when I was a kid and it brings back fond memories. In your first sentence, you write: "I still don't understand why anyone would be demented enough to want us to be their child's godfather". But don't you mean "us to be their child's godPARENTS"? Nice rationalization explaining Simon's abnormally long life span, by the way. I always thought pre-decimalization British currancy was God just balancing the books after giving your small island a world wide empire. Lol!
