Actually I can see where Ripper and Ethan might fit with this especially if a wish was made.

The connections you have made in this piece are very intriguing. Ever thought of expanding into a full fanfic? You bring a depth of emotion to your work that is so often lacking. I would love to see you expand on this. :)

Very interesting little ficlet. I must admit that at first I was absolutely baffled. I couldn't figure out who in hell Allan Rothwood was supposed to be. The little explanation at the end triggered a mental exclaimation of 'Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh!' You're right, the character doesn't fit within Buffy canon, but only because we've been told so much about Giles' past. (somehow I doubt Allan Rothwood ever wanted to be either a fighter pilot or a grocer.) Having said that, I don't think that the characters are all that dissimilar. I can totally picture Giles with your version of a pre-Sunnydale life. It's always a fun challenge to try to connect two characters on different shows that just happened to be played by the same actor. One of my favorite examples of that kind of story would be a crossover between Highlander and Queen of Swords. Come on, when you first saw Q of S didn't you just KNOW that Dr. Helms was really Methos? (Those characters would actually be really easy to mesh as long as you ignored the fact that Kronos was prancing around pretending to be Spanish) But I digress . . .

I think you did a fab job of merging the characters despite their conflicting backstories. Stacia
