Wonderful! I was particularly struck by how well you portrayed (in relatively few words) some of the unexpected emotional complications and difficulties of Jon's sojourn in High School (in addition to all the EXPECTED ones!):

'he’d accidentally let slip that he’d “played ball” with Charlie a few times to Charlie’s old teammate (he’d gotten really really drunk when he’d realized he was roughly the same age Charlie would have been and then spent a weekend with a hangover from hell).'

And the Bangladesh connection, plus Jon's first meeting with Dawn -- well, that was well done, too (even if you do tend to mix up "your" and "you're" and a few other homophones).
