Very interesting fic, Marcus. It made me think about ramifications, the way we move through time. It's always nice to think in the morning. Loved the conflicting demon advice, the obscure Whistler and the slightly less obscure Skip. Skillful weaving of event past and present, and a nice look at how Buffy's lives could have turned out. All in all, thoroughly enjoyable.

Another great story Marcus! I originally bypassed the 'Hyperion' story because of the 'Saint' crossover, and all I could think of was the horrible Kilmer/Shue movie...I should have trusted in your genius (I have loved all your other stories) and read it when you first posted. But at least I caught it this time while reading the sequal. Thanks for another great story which makes me want to go out and get all the old 'Saint' books. Kudos & cookies.

An entertaining tale, Nice to see some of Sunnydale's history. I guess something happened to that statue of the 'original' Richard Wilkins before Buffy's day.

One minor typo: In the conversation with Skip, you have Skip saying: "Look for a guy with the stink of balancing demon and a confused look, nine times out of ten he's met Skip." when I think you meant to say he'd met Whistler.

ohh.... that's just.... Saving Mayor Wilkins. The mind boggles. Of course, from the perspective of the story, it makes perfect sense. I still keep wondering just how much would have been different... or maybe I should say could have been different. Maybe a competent police department?

But it was a delightful story, with nice charicterization, plenty of mysterious messages... umm... should that have read nine times out of ten, they've talked to Whistler?

I liked the competing goals about Wilkins - Whistler's view vs Skips. and the comments both aboutt he resembelance of Mayor Wilkins 1 (Victorian dress) and Mayor Wilkins '2' having such a resembelance, the Wilkins name everywhere, and Templar noticing all the creepy things.

This was both amusing and beautiful, and a lovely backstory for Xander's ability to perform CPR on Buffy during the S1 finale.

One question, though. In this paragraph:

"Easy; look for a guy with the stink of balancing demon and a confused look, nine times out of ten he's met Skip. Of course it helped that I knew who you were, your picture was in the Sunnydale Times this morning."

Is it really supposed to read, "...nine times out of ten, he's met Whistler..."?

Thank you for sharing.
