"I don't care about Great Muppety Odin. I miss the sex." BWA HA HA HA HA !!!! Fabulous, just awesome. Super S8 reference. Perfect! I enjoy the heck out of William/Spike. :)

YOu know, I'm not sure there are words to describe how much I love this chapter without resorting to some rather frightening, possibly stalkerish lengths. So, I'm going to limit myself to two particularly shining moments:
The Asgard are puppets? And they're the Stargate Asgard and they're puppets? Snickersnortfl. PLEASE let this be in the actual universe, and not just because Stargate is a TV show and Spike watches it. Please. I'm willing to grovel a little. Grovelgrovelgrovel. (See.)
Buffy being completely determined to be alone with Spike, and forgoeing punching him after she sees him. That rang true with her characterization--if she threw herself emotionally into a relationship, she was good at getting rid of the rest of the world whenever possible.

No, the Asgard aren't puppets. The Odin who is a puppet is the actual Norse god Odin - Spike refers to the Stargate Asgard because he watched the show, and Giles (who, in this story, didn't watch Stargate SG-1) didn't understand the reference. Sorry, this isn't a crossover and I can't make it into one despite your grovelling.
All that is left to come is an Epilogue - which would have been done by now if my time out of work hadn't been taken up by beta-reading for Curiouslywombat - in which Spike returns to LA.
You wrote 33,000+ words just to get that last line in didn't you?
Comments from author:
No, I really didn't. The story is primarily an examination of the idea that 'memory equals identity'. I admit that I started thinking of a way to use the line when I first read it in S8:1 but if that had been all there was to it I would have written only a drabble.

Well done. Thanks for sharing. So that makes SG1 a tv series and HP a book series in your established continuity - and those are the two best crossovers for the Buffy-verse! Sigh on future crossover.
Comments from author:
Thank you! I warned you there wasn't going to be any crossover element in this one.
If I ever did an HP crossover it would be with Predator and would feature extreme violence, multiple gory character deaths, and highly polished trophy skulls.

I certainly wouldn't want to be on the other side of some random encounter Buffy runs into on her way home with Spike. I'm thinking if those two Slayers wander back they're not going to have a good time of it.
Comments from author:
She'd stuff Caprice and Isabella into the boot ('trunk') of their little sports car even though it's only big enough for a set of golf clubs.
Buffy led Spike towards the door. “That’s tough, Giles, but you’ll just have to suck it up,” she said. “I don’t care about Great Muppety Odin. I miss the sex.” Good to see Buffy has her priorities set ; ). Cool chapter, see ya!
Comments from author:
That last line is a paraphrase of a line she says, in a slightly different context, in the Season 8 comics.
Thank you!

Yet more twists. Spike's memories resting, and giving William a chance to be more himself, perhaps to allow a more humane mix of the two. Very cool!

An interesting twist. A double is with the immortal? And is the immortal actually acting as their Italian agent as well?
Comments from author:
I took the 'double with the Immortal' plot-line from the Season 8 comics. I wrote this story during the time before the comics had devolved into abysmal idiocy and incorporated some elements of the comics into the story.

I wanted to know more about William's wardrobe. Are the light-weight suits with blazers in light colors and materials like Miami vice or bermuda type suits, or are they more like a summer suit version of a regular suit with a weave that's just very light weight but darker colors?
Meanwhile, bad, Andrew! And fun to think of Illyria looking forward to going shopping with Harmony.
