True that the dryad does not ever leave her tree, but we do know that she has/does magic of a sort. So, in your version of the Phouka-verse, perhaps she can do something similar to astral projection? And she never actually did leave her tree, but was still able to physically "visit" D'hofferen in his own office? Maybe is it difficult to do so she would only do it for a very important reason (like her champion's happiness)?
Or she can only go to a plane/dimension where she doesn't already have a physical representation. That is, Earth has her House, and the Grove is where she and her Tree are located, but Asha...[whatever the name of D'Hofferen's homeworld is] does not hold any part of her, permanently.
All in all, a very fun story and I enjoyed it. I suppose that if you are going to have Faith/Wood work out, Xander/Dawn isn't too bad of a choice, and you wrote the situation well. What can I say, at heart I am really a Faith/Xander fan. =]

That section on the means of dealing with the species racoonus interruptus seemed to be written with a bit too much authority on the subject for it to be purely research for the fic...

The utter insanity you've created here is indeed worthy of the Scooby Seal of Approval (put that ball back down, stupid seal!)
Ahem.
The description of the FBI agents, especially the newcomer, was hilarious. The rabbit..... why do I have the feeling we'll be seeing him impersonating a dog chasing cars pretty soon? And General Douglas MacWells?
Oi!

Mmmm. Let me guess. The restaurant where this sting was set to take place is also the restaurant where the date in question is going to happen/begin? Man, are they being thorough! Can't risk ANYTHING potentially damaging or interrupting the "moment", I suppose. Personally, I am not a Dawn/Xander shipper, but the lengths that the gang is going to on this is enough to retain my attention to the story. =]
