Interesting, if a bit on the dark side. But dark side is good.
No credit to Billy Joel though...your summary comes from Goodnight Saigon, one of his more memorable songs. I was born after Tet, but I remember the footage of American choppers landing at the embassy to pick up evacuees. It's one of my earliest memories of the TV news

Thank-you, and yes I forgot to credit Billy Joel! I shall do that in a little while.
Yes, I remember watching choppers land in the sea near US warships after the fall of S. Veitnam.

I think this is one of the oddest stories you've shared with us. I liked it and I thought you did a very good job of capturing the mindset of the 60s. What a frakked up war. What a frakking waste. And to think I was so young and stupid I volunteered to go there. Lucky for me the US had started withdrawing troops by the time I graduated from Basic and my tech training school.

My god you must be a bit older than me! I joined up in '74.
I don't really remember the Vietnam war much, it was on TV but it didn't really affect me much (my older brother was the only Hippy who wanted to bomb the north!). What I've learnt about that war was from books like 'Fields of Fire' or films like 'Full Metal Jacket' and 'Tour of Duty' on TV.
As always thanks for the review, next story to be posted will be Part two of my Buff Barbarian series 'Faith the Barbarian!'
Cheers, DaveT.

Quite a strong and dark fic dude, very good. I really liked the cameos by the original scoobies, and the poor Viet-cong slayer... she had it bad, poor girl :(.
Any chance to see a sequel?. See ya!!.
Comments from author:
Yes every now and then I feel the need to do something dark. A sequel? Maybe, based loosely around the song 'Hey Sandie'. Rory and Shaggy come home from Nam and visit Vilma at UCSunnydale. We'll see, I've got loads of other work to do.
As always, thanks for your kind words, Cheers, DaveT.
