Have to concur that you needed to bend too many things out of shape for this one. (I'll confess that I was never fond of the whole Highlander mythology anywho.)
Comments from author:
If you play with the Highlander characters you pretty much have to use their rules, and that's unfortunately one that is important in several episodes, and makes a lot of sense for plot purposes; if they could have children you wouldn't get any mentoring of new immortals, apart from their own children.

Another great reason to invent a uterine replicator! Why haven't we done so already, what are we barbarians? Maybe there are a lot of immortals on beta colony and that is why they are so weird :)

If I ever write a longer story based on this idea that will certainly be one of the ideas I explore.

Nice twist! (Though nothing could ever top Cordelia's "I went shopping in the capitol and look what I bought you" line to Aral when she returned with Vordarian's head in a shoestore bag!)

Indeed. And I think you've given me an idea for another (non-crossover) Barrayar story, so I'd better not say more...

Very nice twist. It incorporates what is literally my favorite scene in the whole Vorkosigan series next to the assassination of Baron Fell by Mark.
*Edit* I believe that Miles mentions remote piloting a powersuit that had its head blown off with a plasma arc at one point and of course there is the botched execution of the brother of the assassin who launches the soltoxin grenade.
Comments from author:
It's the only canon decapitation I'm aware of in the Vorkosigan universe, it seemed a good idea to give it a shot.

A very nice twist on Cordelia's "shopping" trip. I wonder how many people would know about Immortals. It seems like the kind of thing Illyan would find out about, eventually.
Comments from author:
Maybe - I'd imagine that every development in forensics makes getting away with the usual sort of Highlander killing that bit harder. After a thousand years...
I almost think it would be better, though, to have Bothari be the Immortal. Elena's parentage would have to change, but somehow Bothari makes more sense to me than Cordelia. Ah well. Ye authore hath spoken.
Comments from author:
So write an immortal Bothari story! Nobody's stopping you!

Yet another of your lovely drabbles. I enjoy how your twists on all the canon shows, movie, and books you write about are always logical and imaginative, even if a bit ... odd. Lol!
Comments from author:
It's an odd sort of drabble where the footnotes are longer than the story. Cheating really...
