Another good entry in this series. Borrows quite a lot from established SF tropes, which is okay, although I would've liked to see them subverted a bit more. Was Brittany new watcher the guy from the previous story, and the Captain his slayer?
Comments from author:
Yes, the Watcher that collected Brittany at the end was Warlock - although the Captain is actually his mother (his father being her Watcher ...)

I like your forecast of where the Buffyverse will go. Intriguing OCs combined with a well thought out 'verse make this a neat little piece. Glad to see you're expanding the series.

Review:
Creative take on SF and the future of the BtVS-verse. I could actually see the "future Giles" in his ponytail. The mix of futuristic "sliver guns" and stakes had a bit of a Firefly feel to it.

On the plus side, yet another stunning story.
...on the downside, I've had 'Lucy in the Sky with Demons' stuck in my head for the last few days.
Comments from author:
LOL! Sorry about that. *g*

Review:
Adoring this series. Extremely creative view of the future of the Slayer-verse, with familiar yet distinct characters peopling it, and a much less depressing atmosphere than Joss seems to be going for in the various comics.
Loved this look at Brittany's first meeting with her Watcher; also love the references to Buffy as "The Last of the First". Very mythological. More from this 'verse, please?
Comments from author:
I often wonder if Joss hates the worlds he creates - or just wants to be the one to spoil his toys ...
If human vision and mythic resonance can turn a ragged bunch of post-Roman soldiers and their warlord into the romance of chivalry, the legends of the round table and the vision of the grail, then I can easily see the tale of the Slayer becoming an inspirational and aspirational myth. Especially in a universe where the darkness between the stars is hungry and each life is little more than a brief flicker of flame in the vastness of eternity.
Mankind tends to fights for what it has, and what it believes in (often with each other, and over a difference of opinion, I have to say) - and what better thing to beleive in than a spirit that burnt so brightly that it lit a thousand other flames in order to hold back the dark?
I'm never sure if Joss understands (or has even spotted) the mythic aspects of his creations - but they are definitely there, and I like to play with them.
At least one more to come -and maybe more thereafter, once I've got the thesis out of the way ...

Brilliant setting, great combat scenes, and a great story for them to run through. Would it be rude to plead for more from this new world? :)
Comments from author:
Not rude at all. I have one more waiting to post - and after that, it may have to wait until I've finished my thesis ... but I like playing in this universe and have a number of ideas still to explore, so hopefully the muse will strike again.

Definitely an interesting series you have going here.
Nit: when the Slayers are given teh field name of Angels, you have Angel One being marked as "Bethany." A few moments later, you have "Brittany" being called Angel One. Given that Brittany appears all over this chapter and Bethany only the once, I think you typoed.
Comments from author:
Yup! Well spotted ...
Now fixed!

Review:
wow. that was awesome.
One minor mishap: towards the end, when the slayers are being placed on board the Giles, you use the word "assignations" instead of assignments. an assignation is a clandestine meeting, usually involving an affair. not quite what i think you were going for, there.
Comments from author:
Oops! I'll correct that ...
