Review of chapter "Chapter One: Halloween from a Hat" from RosytheCat
Review:
While your writing technique and grasp of character voices are good, you might want to re-think your costume choices, as none of the fandoms named had been created at the time of the Halloween episode. Remember, research and the internet are our friends!

I like your setup. I can't wait to see how your Helloween screws up all their lives. Lol! Too bad you couldn't have sucked Cordy into the madness also.
Comments from author:
I was gonna get Cordy in there but then I thought that it would be better if someone had some idea of who everybody was and what was going on and the ability to get Giles involved.

Why do people insist on turning Xander into a girl? I've seen Buffy turn into a guy (temporarily) once, but Xander's doing the gender-bender every thre or four YAHF's it seems...
Random.
I'm curious where you'll take it, I must confess... Too short though, far too short and underdeveloped.

Did you forget what you were doing? Here's a quote for you.

"'Well, I have a few minutes, Dawnie’s meeting me here in a bit, so we just write down some cool costume ideas, ten each let’s say, and toss ‘em in a hat and have Giles draw for us,' Buffy suggested.

'Male and female,' Xander said.

'Alright but you can only re-draw once, what fun would it be if it wasn’t random,' Willow agreed.

...

'Aw come on G-Man, I demand a re-draw!' Xander complained.

'No re-draws!' the gang declared firmly."

Big error in the chapter made it confusing for me..

Willow states that they can re-draw once, and then all of a sudden it's no re-draws?? Also, making Xander go through that sort of trouble because of his costume doesn't really fit at this point of the series, unless one of the girls is suffering as well.
Comments from author:
Yeah sorry a block of the story went missing when I posted. I have however fixed the mistake if you care to go back and re-read. It makes a lot more sense now.

As for Xander's suffering it is completely by chance. For the challenge this fic is in response to I had to draw names and costumes out of a hat and write about the Scoobies dressing up in them the provision being that I could re-draw a costume once and then I had to write about the second costume drawn. No take backs. So when I drew LeeLoo from Fifth Element for Xander (thinking back it wasn't probably an appropriate potential costume for a kid's Halloween escort, in my defence I was trying to pick fandoms and characters rarely written about!) I realized that even if I could bring myself to write about poor Xander's torment I couldn't subject small children (fictional or not!) to the sight of a man in a LeeLoo costume.

Thus it is proven that Xander suffers from Murphy's Law even outside the BtVS realm, as it really was just luck of the draw that he got the short end of the proverbial costume stick.

Thanks for reviewing!

Sorry, I'll Shut Up now ;).
