After you posted the newest story in this series I had to go back and read this for the first time. I really love this creative way of inserting Buffy into the Anita'verse, as well as all the "AW!" that goes along with it :D
A very intresting approach to answering the challenge. I can very easily see Buffy doing exactly that in those circumstances, and it was nice to see her getting a chance to help without an obseesive drive to try and find her powers and help that way.
This is a fabulous story. I really like the way Buffy's "mental break" made her more receptive to finding Luke and helping him out, even without her slayer powers. I wonder if being part of a big extended family (Giles, Willow, Xander, etc.) made her more receptive to the idea that family isn't always about who you're related to. And it was clever of her to use ideas from her world to make the world she is in a better place. Even if Dawn and the others aren't real, she's still found a way to honor her memories of them.
I really would love to see more in this universe, with or without the St. Louis crew. You've made me really curious about the life that Buffy and her kids lead, Derek (the Ulfric, right?) and all the other people you've invented. I'm normally not one to get too caught up in original characters but these are extremely compelling.

I really like this series and more. I do believe in this instance that Buffy's 'coma' or 'psychic breakdown' or whatever went on was simply the two girls tapping into each other's worlds. Any chance you'll bring Dawn or even Angel (Buffy/Angel ALways!) into the picture at all, maybe have Dawn suddenly show up in front of Joyce expecting for her sister to be there too?

Thank you! I'm so glad you liked it.
Interesting philosophy concerning the two girls tapping into each other's world.
You know, I would SO love to have one or the other jump into that world and I might do that. I'm not sure though, so I'm not committing to anything.
Hee, I just had a thought of one of her kids making a wish and being transported into a world where Buffy is the Slayer... I wonder how they would take the differences between the two women.

Absolutely excellent story. I also think that there is room for prequels and sequels in the same universe, to please think about doing one!

Thank you! There's actually another two stories written in this 'verse already (my muses love it). The first is a prequel that is with my beta right now. The other is a sequel I'm currently debating whether or not I want to post it. At the very least there will another one in the next week or so.

Wow that is an awesome story. If you feel the inspiration you should totally write a sequel

Thank you!
I'm actually 1500 words into the sequel and have completed a really short ficlet showing a snapshot into the life of the Summers Clan (although that won't be posted until the sequel is done).
