Buffy was in LA with her dad between seasons 1 and 2. It's between seasons 2 and 3 that she was on her own. Aside from that great bit. It'd be great to see Elliot try and get Buffy to return, "the Hitter" v. the Slayer.

Cool idea that they're related, but is this an AU? I thought Buffy ran after season 2, when she was 17. Not that Joyce couldn't still want Eliot's help tracking her down or anything. It'd be kinda cool if he ran into Buffy and learned that it's difficult to force Buffy to do anything. Heck, he might try to enlist her help with 'The Tap-Out Job' in Nebraska with the MMA fighters.
