Review of chapter "Paranoia" from mendenbar
Review:
I really, really wish you could come back to this some day and finish it. So many possibilities.
Comments from author:
It seems like every time I have an idea, something personal that's terrible happens; say nothing of my muse/beta being terribly busy

But the chapter is getting written, if an inch at a time. Too many ideas. Are you on Gmail or YIM, by any chance? Perhaps you could help.

Review:
That was crazy. I don't recognize Sam, but that's a neat twist you've got for the rest of the characters. And Mal being Angel's many, many greats-grandson is awesome! I've never even pictured that one! I also really like the historical accuracy you included. I look forward to reading more of this!
Comments from author:
You've never seen the AtS S5 episode, 'Why We Fight', I take it. Sam's a central figure, to say the least. Thank you, once again! I heartily encourage you to watch the episode, it's one of my absolute favorites.

Ever so glad to see the return of this. I have missed it. Poor Mal, so confused, but relatives always do that to us, no?
Comments from author:
You have no idea. I'm so glad you're enjoying this. Thank you for reading and reviewing, as always.

Review:
This chapter is kind of confusing, although you will note from the rating that this is not necessarily bad. Instead it is the kind of confusion you have when you are first tackling a complex subject. The kind that leaves you reassure that the more you learn, the more things will make sense.

So despite the fact that I still partially stick by my 1am review of 'bzuh?' I also recognize the framework upon which the answers will be built. I am sure I will get more info on the whos, hows and whys so I am content to let the story unravel for now. In the meantime I look forward to seeing how the crew reacts to Angel and the boys and how Angel and the boys react to them.

I am also still curious as to what will happen with the little spy hiding on board.

However, for now I will patiently wait for the next part. Thanks for sharing this.
Comments from author:
Why thank you. Just imagine, though, if you will...Angel and Jayne in the same room with Lawrence Dobbs.

"Pain is scary."

*giggles*

That probably shouldn't be funny, but we're Jossverse viewers. We're long corrupted.

I am loving this fic quite a bit. I wouldn't mind a little more background on the changes in Angel but I think I understand it well enough if you don't want to go into more detail. Not quite human but not completely vampire either.
Comments from author:
*cackles evilly and lets ideas about the next chapter ferment into a nice, heady concoction*

Thank you and thank you again for reading and reviewing.

A great update! I admit it would have been amusing to see whether Angel and his boys could have kept their heritage a secret for a little while longer- but the crew knowing opens the door for other opportunities. For example, in episode War Stories you could have Angel, Sam and Connor participate in the fight- maybe going in first and outright killing anyone that gets in their way. If Zoe was that worried about the Captain she would allow the Aurelius clan to tear their way through for them.

Angel’s babble seems uncharacteristic at times but I do remember times in the series where he babbled but I think that over the last few hundred years his mind could have unravelled a little at the loss of the ones he loved. It would explain the tendency to babble. I could see this causing Sam or Connor to cut into his speech with a simple sentence which gets to the point. The boys can be very blunt in my mind- though it would be amusing if they babbled too.

The line ‘their spirits either broken, near about, or hardened to the strength of a fortress’ makes me think that maybe Spike and Illyria are still alive. Illyria could be the hardened one and Spike the broken one. I kinda hope that they are alive- Serenity and its occupants should pay them a visit.

I have a feeling Angel’s story just confused the crew more than they already were. And Connor’s a vampire? Odd- I’m kinda hoping that Angel is just letting them believe that and Connor is alive.

I am hoping this line ‘I can tell the difference, but I'm not entirely sure Connor cares’ is a hint of how Connor acts around these people. You could have Connor either violent- or crying- maybe apologising to Jasmine for killing her- but he is speaking to Zoe. I admit I am kinda hoping that Connor gets used to Zoe.

I am eager to see where you take this. I admit it would be good if Angel were to go with Mal and that on a Job leaving Connor and Sam on the ship and we could see how they act without Angel- maybe during Trash or Objects in Space. I also really want to see Kaylee bond with Connor as a friend despite what she has heard about him.

Update soon!

I'm really glad you're enjoying my stories, but -- and I'll say this again -- I'm writing them and don't appreciate being told what to do with them for any reason because it's EXTREMELY RUDE.

If you honestly feel you feel you can't refrain, then I'd just as soon not receive any of your feedback. This bossy attitude you seem to have in regard to other people's stories forces one to wonder why you haven't written much.

It's obvious you have ideas. Feel free to make good on them because several, in particular, are pretty awesome.

But telling writers what to do whenever you review is not at all polite and please cease and desist. If you want to see it, please write it yourself.

Powerful beginning. Mal not only has to deal with River but Sam and Connor? Gotta say I feel sorry for him.
Comments from author:
I would if it weren't Mal we were talking about. He can deal, methinks.

Thank you for reading and, especially, commenting. I really enjoy them.

Very nice, I can't wait to read more.
As you've already noted the Jayne/Hamilton resemblance and a reviewer remarked on the Zoe/Jasmine one I thought I should remind you of the Mal/Caleb one.
Angel did meet Caleb in the Buffy finale.
Also that Summer Glau/River played a prima ballerina in the Angel episode
Comments from author:
I did forget about Summer Glau playing the part of the prima ballerina in S4, but wasn't aware that Angel ever met Caleb because I was honestly paying more attention to Angel and Buffy kissing.

*chuckles*

But thank you, I'm happy you're enjoying what I have up so far and do plan to continue it as soon as I figure out how to incorporate the other resemblances.

I have ideas for Mal and Angel, myself, and can't wait to show them to you. But first, there must be planning.

*nods*

Hmmm...I am intrigued by the possibilities this story lays before me. I can't wait to see what and how much you have Simon and Angel reveal to the crew. I also want to know when and how the little spy that was also on board will play into this scene. And I want to know if Zoe is going to remind Angel and Connor of Jasmine. And I want more background story for the boys. In short I want to know a lot of things, so you need to start writing.

At the same time you should also be writing your other stories. This is what happens when you become wildly popular. You get people like me for demanding fans.

In return I shall try and resolve my new pet plot bunny and get back to the Baptism 'verse. Maybe Becan's baptism next week will help.
Comments from author:
You've reminded me about Gina Torres. There is no way I will be able to ignore that. Ever. And I can't wait to give Lawrence his due because I have an idea as to how that will be done.

Jayne and Angel together with an Alliance officer in one room. God help that poor...well, never mind.

I'm wildly popular? Because I know wildly popular and this isn't it. Perhaps one day.

I hope not. And, see, you know how I demand things of you and you can't budge? So that could always happen with me. *shrugs* We'll never know.

As always, thank you for reading and reviewing.
