Review of chapter "Lapsed" from AXanFan
Guess I'm the opposite of the other reviewers - Xander happens to be my favorite character of the series -- never thought he was a saint or always right, but you really have been unfair to him in this -- I mean I've not watched a lot of Bobby Goren, but he can't be considered that likeable and with all of the mistakes he has made it seems more than a little hypocritical for him to be so judgemental of Xander. And while I like Angel and have always wanted him to get his redemption -- he has done some unbelievably horrible things in his time and yet he is so forgiven that he has become an actual "Angel". Xander was very young and had been living through some very traumatic times -- some of which were perpetuated by Angel and Spike, yet he is this awful person and a jerk while they are "champions".

I personally don't think he was wrong to trick Buffy into sending Angel to hell -- frankly that is what she should have been working towards without Xander's help --knowing what Angelus had done and was planning to do.

Oh well -- it is still a well written series and I acknowledge your rights as the author to write what you want -- I just felt a strong need to defend Xander -- I actually don't like to read about anyone being "bashed". I wish there had been at least one person who would have stood up for Xander while everyone else was being so judgemental.

Some of my favorite stories are the "Xander's real family" themed stories. I would like to see more of this series, but I hope that maybe you could be a little less harsh on Xander and maybe bring a few of the others down to earth/ off their pedestals. I would like to see some more acual interaction between the characters -- maybe there just needs to be some healing on all sides so they can be a "family" again.

I don't feel I was bashing Xander at all and if you do, then that's your right, as well. A lie is a lie is a lie and it wasn't up to Xander to decide what the Slayer should do in a situation such as hers. He manipulated Willow, as well, but I'm supposed to give him a pass on that?

Bobby did think right afterward that he felt he was unfair to Xander, thinking he should change overnight after a lifetime of habits, and I never said anyone was ganging up on him, much less treating him like he didn't deserve the company of the people around him because of said past mistakes.

I do like Xander, quite a lot, and however you feel you see this story, I know what I'm writing and a bashfic is not it. I refuse to see him through rose-colored glasses, nor will I demonize him. But if you feel that way, I can't stop you. Honestly, feel free to stop reading if that's the direction you think I'm going in. I'm not forcing you to do anything you don't want to. If you disagree wth my characterization, then you just disagree and that's that.

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing. I'm a bit stymied by writer's block at the moment, but I'm hoping I'll get something written for it soon.

I'd like to use The X-Files: I Want to Believe as the backdrop and need to finish rewatching it for reference. Again, thank you so much.

Well, jumpin jeebus. That was just amazingly profound and deep and... well, jumpin jeebus on a pogo stick!! Excellent story! Still don't like Xander, but you're doing an amazing job at getting him to be less of an ass-hat, therefore, I commend you.
