Well, the senior wizards that usually handle things are on vacation, and there's never a dolphin or a whale around when you need one - they're the real masters of that sort of thing.

I just read Wizards of Mars (I wonder if that counts as a crossover?) so it was nice to see this here again. But why make Methos unable to learn the Speech? Kit's sister can use it and she doesn't have wizard powers.
Comments from author:
My reasoning was that Methos was Death because the Lone Power had a hold on him - one of the ways the Power was driven out was to permanently impair his ability to do magic.

In re the previous review: I just had a strange thought. What if wizards used "spell check" the same way people use spell check? As in "the word is spelled right, it just isn't the right word." I know you must have seen some of the things written using all the wrong words.
Things like: On Saturday it began to reign. They were tried and needed to get some sleep but they needed food more so they went to the diary for some cheese.
What would this do to a wizard's spell?
Comments from author:
There's been a lot of fantasy written with this sort of idea, as well as stories with reality changing because e.g. one of the recording angels can't spell.
