Review of chapter "The Sleeping Lion" from (Past Donor)FireDragon
Review:
Balian remembered his past battlefield exploits, and the punishments he had endured for stopping any rapes and unnecessary pillaging he came across in the battlefield.

What is necessary Pillaging as opposed to unnecessary pillaging? Just out of curiosity. lol I love your stories and I miss your website. : ( I want to be able to re-read some of those stories you had up that aren't on this site yet. Sniff sniff.

Well there is always the need for food and water, or repairs, but not completely destroying or taking everything the conquered have. Never understood that, if you conquer them then you've just destroyed your own property, not to smart IMHO.

Yay! Buffy to the rescue! I was wondering if, now that the two will be spending time working together, if perhaps Buffy might pull him out of his re-active state a little sooner and make him just a little more pro-active? It just seems to me that he kinda just lets everything happen to him throughout the first 3/4 of the movie.
Comments from author:
That's the idea. She's there to help him learn how to navigate in Jerusalem, and by default in life as the new Baron. He'll learn how to stand up for himself without having to resort to outright murdering someone (ie his half brother) well not where anyone will know that he's the one responsible anyway. Buffy will teach him how to turn that brilliant mind toward protecting his new home, which now included the people and Jerusalem.

Balian has to be breathing a huge sigh of relief at Buffy's timely arrival - even if he doesn't know it's her yet. Big sis must be the only one not happy Buffy's there.
Comments from author:
Oh, yes he squeaked by on that one. And, you're right Miss S is not a happy camper. Look for her to let everyone know just how pissed she is in the future updates.

Beautifully done. Always bugged me about what she did in the movie. I so enjoy Buffy in this tale.
Comments from author:
Thank you. It bothered me as well, which is what provided the inspiration for this story.

Review:
What a wonderfully written chapter! You are truly talented. It is a pleasure to read. You have captured the nuances of each character very well. I especially enjoyed the way you wrote Sybilla, How very devious she is! I was on tenterhooks the whole time, wishing Buffy would hurry up and arrive at Ibelin and stop her seduction. Very well done.
Comments from author:
Thank you for such a nice compliment.

Oh God. I hope you don't have Balian and Sibylla do the dirty. I absolutely despised her in the movie.
Comments from author:
You'll just have to wait and see, but I'm with you on the not caring for Sibylla's character. She totally didn't understand the man (Balian) she so admired if she thought he was going to agree to murdering her current husband and marry her. (eye roll)

Review:
Yikes, poor Balian. Better to be stuck in battle than to have to fend off the advances of a married noblewoman. Bet he wishes that Buffy had gotten there first; maybe it would make her sister behave slightly better.
Comments from author:
I feel what you're saying. He simply hadn't faced this situation before, and isn't quite sure how to handle it. Of, you do understand he doesn't realize Buffy is Buffy, but any ship in a storm as it were.

Review of chapter "New Beginnings" from (Current Donor)mmooch
Review:
Vastly different scenes for Balian and Buffy. The childlike joy as Balian saw his land for the first time vs. The pain Buffy felt remembering her mother and husband's deaths. Wow, even in a different time, her life still sucks. I hope you will change that for her.
Comments from author:
Balian (as portrayed in the movies) came from being a blacksmith to a landholder. He's literally like a kid at Disneyland.

You have to remember though, Buffy's life though different is the result of a wish. It won't be all tea and roses, but it will have joy. The wish is always two-fold. The events I wrote are the combination of the real Isabella's two husbands to create one, and leaving her a widow (ie free to pursue a relationship with a tasty baron *wink) The real dowager is the Maria was in real life the person who married the real Balian. She didn't die in history obviously, so I had to include her death as a catalyst to give Buffy the strength to her stand up for herself and fight not only for her family, but for Jerusalem. Her life parallels Buffy's former life in that way, although she doesn't know that. You may change who you are (ie becoming Isabella), but not what you are underneath at your very core no matter where you land.

Review of chapter "Dream of a Better World" from nicowa
Review:
Loving this story, I absolutly adore KoH/BtVS xovers though. This one looks to be going very in depth, adding a princess/political edge to Buffy and still keeping the Buffy character intact. Though I would like to see a bit more of Balin...

Just a quick question, is little Baldwin and Bali the same character (I'm pretty sure they are... I'm just double checking), and that kid is Guy's son... Who's the guardian, cos it doesn't seem to be Guy?
Comments from author:
I've tried to do as much research as possible to include the actual historical facts the movie skipped over, or smooshed together into singular character (ie Sibylla).

Promise there's more Balin coming in the future. Little Baldwin and Bali are the same character. Bali is his nickname to keep down the confusion between him and his uncle Baldwin. He isn't Guy's son though. His father was Sibylla's first husband, William Longsword of Montferrat. His guardian is still his uncle and several other high nobles, including Tiberius.

Review:
Eww. Guy creeps me out big time. Although, it almost would be worth it for him to try and woo Buffy - just because he'd become a eunuch shortly after he laid a hand on her. Totally loving the relationship between her and Baldwin though.
Comments from author:
Have you seen the movie? He was like, urgh. I wanted to reach through the screen and smack him. Read the history on him and they played it down, which is saying something.

Have to tell you, I envision their relationship similar to the one I shared with my own brother. He was my best friend and confidant wrapped into one.

Wow... I'm impressed. The day I get an e-mail saying there will be an update soon, I get an e-mail telling me that the update is here. That is the first time that has ever happened.
I love the idea of this story, and I kinda hope that Balian holds out against Sybella.
Comments from author:
Well, (blushes) I try to do what I can.

Think our girl, Buffy just might give him the incentive he needs to hold out against ole Sibella's willy ways.

Review:
Sheesh, how is Sibylla from the same family as Buffy and Baldwin? What a monumental waste of a princess. Oh well, guess it makes for good political intrigue.
Comments from author:
She's not bad per se; she's simple single-minded, and focused on her own agenda which is to rule with Guy by her side. Sibylla truly fell in love with Guy, and allowed it to rule not only her personal life, but Jerusalem's fate.
