His awesome abilities will probably have a lot to do with being in much better shape and having massively improved stamina.

I'm fairly sure the Virtues would use a hot instead. I doubt there'd be any competition involved.

Another possibility for the Watcher not wanting a slayer to be part of a hunting team is that with the huge distances involved in traveling the world, the only way to get a slayer, who, say is in Germany, to, say, China, if there is an emergency would be to kill the original one and hope (which would be a fair bet if slayers are called where they're needed) that one pops up in China.

EDIT: Well...The Watchers seemed to pretty much look as the slayers at weapons and really when you need a sword, it's better to have a dull sword than no sword at all. (shiver)

That's a disturbing idea all on its own. Fortunately the time needed to train a new slayer makes it unfeasible or the Watchers would probably have done it.
