This was scary, awesome, and mind-blowing! The thought that the Asgard just up and left while seeming to all die off is an idea I've seen presented before. I love how you created the Powers That Be with Sam's frustrated wish.

a funny story, that raises some real questions
And some hopefull answers, because I felt let diwb when they removed the Asguard - twice.
(I really expected them to go back to having to bread offspring - and earth 'helping them out' in their usual undevellopped creative way with some matchmakers. ;)

Anyway, your only mistake is that IIRC Anubis wasn' t an ancient but ascended Goauld (ascended like Daniel). I think there would be better examples in the Ori/Orisis or those that stopped 'merlin'

Anubis is still Ascended, whatever his origins. And it was the Ancients that ultimately created the Goa'uld (just like the Wraith; my, they were careless), so I don't think one can blame Sam if she's lumping him in with all of that "Ancient mess" in her musings.

I enjoyed this story a great deal.

Though I know this was probably meant as a one-part, I think it would be interesting if you had Sam actually wake up and have to live in the new world she created.

But, you know, whatever your muse leads you to do will have to do.

This was a good story, and the ending completely unexpected.

Now I have to read the entire series.

Definitely qualifies as twisted but also a well written sense of disillusionment and a moment of humor right at the end.

Be careful what you wish for. Sam really should have remembered that.
