I don't want to be happy! I want to be giddy! And you can't force me to be happy :P I for some reason can't see Xander in the Hufflepuff house, he does have some of the qualities but he could also easily fit in any of the others. I am very much looking forward to the next installment to this wonderful story.
Comments from author:
yay! thank you. giddy works.
and i was hoping to imply that xander seemed hufflepuff-ish at first glance, but snape's reconsidering that.

I enjoyed your Severus POV. An intriguing xander as well, I just about melted when he started talking about defense and Hogwarts.
Comments from author:
i'll take that as a good thing, hope you didn't get anything too messy... *grins*

Review of chapter "First Impressions" from fanficfan
Review:
I was about to start complaining about the completed status, then I read the authors note (which I normally don't read) at the bottom. Very glad I caught that and avoided a spot of embarrassment.

Great story, can't wait for the rest to show up!
Comments from author:
yeah, sorry about that. i tried to the status after the first complaint, but can't figure out how.
and thanks! i'm glad you liked it.

Review of chapter "First Impressions" from kayron
Review:
This seems more like the beginning of a story than a complete story. The idea that someone had noticed Xander's odd interactions with magic, and came to the conclusion that he had an affinity for wand magic. The fact that Xander had natural powerful shields. The fact that Snape finds Xander to be an interesting young man, and treats him neutrally at least. These things seem to be something that could be expanded on. The fact that Xander was born and raised on the Hellmouth would probably have had some kind of affect on his magic. What would those be? How would the effect him? The first chapter DID catch my interest. It would be great if there were more.
Comments from author:
there is, but i split it into stories instead of chapters, and tth doesn't acknowledge series when there's only one story posted. oops. guess i'll fix it.

Review of chapter "First Impressions" from kaleecat
Review:
This is smartly written, engaging and true to the best in Xander and Giles. I love the rapport beyween xander and giles. And its so like xander to look at the practical defensive side of the castle. Also the way xander was identified by the wand wizrds is quite original. Snape is also nicely well rounded.

This is really quite wonderful way to start, well written, and I am heartily relieved to see in the other reviews that this is just the beginning. Thank you for sharing it. I look forward to more.
Comments from author:
thanks, i really appreciate it!

and you're my first ever recommendation! you just made my night, thanks!

A well written opening, especially Snape's insight of Xander's hidden character.

Review of chapter "First Impressions" from Bumpkin
Review:
You realize you have this marked as 'complete' and that can't be right because no... that was just a tantalizing start. That was by no means complete...

In other words, awesome and I want MORE! *ahem* Please?

keep penning,
Marns

Comments from author:
*grins* have no fear, the sequel is near! i appreciate your enthusiasm immensely! but this is the first part in a series, so... yeah, technically it's complete. but i'm leaving the land of internet for a wee little while, and wanted to post things before then. thanks for the praise, however!
