Review:
You just messed up the rest of the stories though...

If Anita can't be marked then what about the rest of the stories? lol
Comments from author:
No just sent them on a different path, which was this story's purpose.

Review:
Very interesting link between Buffy and Anita. So very glad that Buffy saved Anita from Jean Claude!!!
Comments from author:
Thanks. I always wondered what turn the stories would have taken if someone had been able to help Anita from the beginning.

Bravo. It's been a very interesting crossover, and I have to agree with pretty much everything you've said about LKH, Buffy, Anita, and that sleazy jerk known as Jean-Claude. Keep up the good work and thanks for writing!
Comments from author:
Thank you so much, I'm glad that you enjoyed the story. Sure wished LKH would return to the writing style of her earlier stories. Oh well, I guess that's why fanfic was created.

Can't believe Zachary tried to tell Anita that he deserved to live; what a pile of....

Love that you had Buffy/Slayer claim Anita so she couldn't be marked by AB'verse vamps. Her life should be so much simpler now that she won't get mixed up in that mess. Too bad Anita didn't follow through on the kiss thing though. That would have been funny.
Comments from author:
It's the way of the bad guy, don't you know. Haven't you ever noticed that some crazed killer who shoots up a store/whatever and kills/injures numerous people will cry like a baby that not to shoot him.

*smile* I couldn't help adding in the warning about wolves mating for life. I think it shocked her to even have the fleeting thought.

Love you doll, and always look forward to your reviews.

I loved every word I'm sorry to see it end. Buffy totally got Jean Claude with the blood-bond between her and Anita. He is never getting his hands on Anita, and I'm glad to see she's smart enough to tell him HELL NO when he tries to ensnare her. I hope you'll write another Anita Bake story soon, preferably with Edward as Buffy's love interest.

I'm so happy that you enjoyed it. I truly liked Anita from the earlier books, and wanted to create a scenario that would allow her to remain as that character. Have to admit that I had so much fun with this pairing that I wouldn't rule out continuing it in a later story line.

Review:
you really like to end chapters at critical points. good work! So...this isn't going to end up with Antia with what's his name and Buffy with Asher, like 99% of such crossovers? How strange! Though I do kind of miss the Anita with super powers from a few marks, yeah, down that road lies badness.
This world has a lot of very bad vampires in it, Buffy has a lot of work ahead of her.
Comments from author:
Nope, I solemnly promise none of the above pairings will appear. I think it would have been okay if Anita somehow gained some powers through the books, but uber amount she currently has is too OP. I think Buffy's looking forward to carving out her place in the Anitaverse.

Can't wait to see the next chapter! Hoping to see Buffy kick some arse! :D

I love that in your stories Buffy is usually a very strong character.
Comments from author:
Glad you're enjoying the story. Don't worry the arse kicking is on its way.

Know that she came off lots of times as a ditz, but I still saw the girl underneath the hero, and always felt she was stronger than she was portrayed.

Review:
hm, I thought there were swan weres in the stories? Might be wrong on that, though. Hopefully Buffy will come running soon, and 'thrall' shouldn't work on her. End of S5 Buffy had dealt with the Master and Dracula on that front.
Faith made a lot of bad choices all on her own; Buffy could have reached out to her more, but then again she did a lot of that, it just didn't do any good. F. needed help, and Giles/Wesley didn't realize it in time. The only one who kind of understood her at the time was Angel, and his intervention was wrecked by Wesley...
Comments from author:
There are in the later books, but from what I remember even Anita was surprised by them. I just tried to come up with a logical reason for there not being any insect weres. Really, I just couldn't resist the Praying Mantis line.

I know several people thought I placed the blame on Buffy for Faith's issues, and it wasn't my intent. I simply felt that given time and space (ie. another dimension where the world wasn't on her shoulders) might give Buffy time to look back and see what went wrong between them and what she could have done better.

Buffy was intrigued by Faith's lifestyle until she saw the way that it lead. The want, take, have attitude would seem fun for a little while, but someone brought up like Buffy wouldn't be able to walk that path for long. She quickly found the grass wasn't greener on the other side, and ran back to her life.

Review:
This is great! Glad i found it!

I love your Edward. Of course, Buffy would understand that internal darkness he has - if anyone could make him become a bit more human, it's the girl that spent the last 5 years having demons, darkness, and responsibilty hollow her out. The alternate reality she's found herself in allows her a vacation from some of that. But I think Edward can sense how similar she is to him and that feeling that he's not alone would be powerful to such a rogue. They make a wonderfully inspired pair. And it's fun to watch them gang up on Anita - hopefully they can eventually lossen her up a bit. But at the same time, the reason Anita is so dark and sad and tired all the time is because she feels so strongly for people. She hates the bloodshed and cruelty she sees. She still feels deeply, which makes her the most human of the group.

Anyway...

Thanks for sharing - looking forward to more!

Thank you for such a nice review. Your perception was exactly what I was hoping to generate. Your take on Anita was exactly what I liked about her in the earlier books, and wanted to provide the situation that would allow her to keep that part of herself rather than what resulted in the later books.

Review:
While for the most part, I think this is an interesting take on Buffy interacting with Anita-verse. Good action, and atmosphere. I'm having a couple of problems with this.

For one. Edward is jarring for me.
In canon, he is a sociopath, plain and simple. Think of Dexter for the supernatural.
Any feeling he expresses are fake. It's an act to fit in, or to play a roll. In the books 'Eddie' has been quite candid about that with Anita. So to have him emotionally 'connect with Buffy in a romantic relationship? That they can 'give' each other what they need? How does a sociopath give anyone what they need emotionally? The guy you have here isn't real for me. The early chapters were OK, but you've started to 'humanize' him. It's not Edward.
Second, is her thoughts about Faith. I always have this problem with the idea that Buffy 'failed' her.
Why was it's Buffy's job to save or fix her? Why would it have been in any way her responsibility?
Other then to maybe try be her friend. Which she did.
She was, at the time, a 17 year old dealing with more then enough of her own baggage, and responsibilities as a slayer.
You know who failed Faith? The Watcher's. Giles and Wesley. It was their jobs as both Watcher's and adults who had the task of being her guardians, that should have seen to the physical, emotional, and mental well being of the girl. Not Buffy. Why did these ADULTS never check on her living conditions, why did they never appear to provide any kind of counseling in dealing with the loss of the one person Faith felt had been there for her(her first Watcher)?
Did Buffy make mistakes with Faith? Would she and should she feel some guilt. Sure. Did she fail her? No, I don't think so. This is, to me, a too widely used, and erroneous theme in Buffy fiction.
Also the theme of guilt over what happened to Kendra as an reason of why and how she dealt with Faith? I'm not sure I buy that. There wasn't a hint of it in canon as far as I remember.
Buffy treated Faith the way she did because of their different background, experiences and personalities.
Faith was a wild-card. Buffy recognized that, and therefore did not totally trust, or know how to deal with her. Reading more into it is kinda stretching I think.
Good luck with the story.
Comments from author:
I appreciate your review and some of the points you made were valid. I simply took another path with this thinking that Buffy with time away from being the Slayer would reflect back on her life and make some decisions about what she would do differently.

I also took the Edward from the first book, which we didn't really know allot about, and included a little bit of his humanity that peaked out in Skin Trade with his concerns for his stepson. Edward accepts who and what he is, and I think that would draw Buffy to him, along with his darkness of course.

This story is simply my view on the whatif affects with Buffy added into the mix from the beginning.

Man, Nikolaos sounds like the stuff of nightmares. Hmm, wonder where Buffy is... Probably playing 'Go Fish' with the rats.
Comments from author:
Of all the Anitaverse vamps Nikolaos freaked me out the most. She was like a super-powered mix of that freaky little vamp Claudia from Chronicles of a Vampire, and Drusilla to me.

Buffy is lurking, she's there doing her Buffy thing, and will appear in the next update promise.

Poor Anita, she just can't figure Buffy out. Oh well, people from Buffy's own life couldn't either. You're driving me nuts with the UST between Buffy and Edward, though!
Comments from author:
That is soo true. I think that's why I've always liked her character, not necessarily everything she did, but how many diverse sides there were to her personality.

*laugh* Then I'm doing it right!

I'd agree the AB vamps hold too much power, so I like that you're setting Buffy up with Edward to kill them and (hopefully) preventing Anita from being essentially forced into becoming a human servent
Comments from author:
Thanks. I really liked Anita's original character and hate what she's become. It's like Jr. Jeckel and Mr. Hyde to me.
