Review of chapter "XVII" from RevDorothyL
Review:
Deb at NCIS:LA? That could work.

But I can't help that I'm still rooting for Dexter to somehow get away clean, in spite of the top-notch efforts of Gibbs and Michael Westen, et al. :)
Comments from author:
We'll see what happens... hopefully in the next part.

Review of chapter "XVI" from RevDorothyL
Review:
And the noose tightens!

I'm so torn -- I WANT to root for Gibbs and his team, but I also want Dexter to have a happy ending (no matter how unrealistic and impossible that seems)! :)
Comments from author:
Let me put it this way - the end will be better than the end of the real series (and already is since Rita is still alive!)

Review of chapter "XV" from DarthBill
Review:
I've enjoyed this so far, but I also have a few pretty big problems with it.

First, I don't think Lila's body would have been found. Even without the boat, Dexter could have found a way to get rid of a body. If he dumped it in a river, like you said, he would have weighed it down with rocks. And no, the release of gas wouldn't have been enough to make it buoyant, especially if the thing he zipped her up in wasn't air tight.

More importantly, though, NO ONE is questioning his guilt, despite the very circumstantial evidence. His friends all think he's guilty, his wife thinks he guilty, even his sister thinks he's guilty. Hell, she took off without even getting his side of it. That's super out of character for her. You could maybe make an argument that she couldn't face it after the Rudy thing, but she's stronger than that. Besides which, Dexter can basically do no evil in Debra's eyes at this point in the time line. She would need much stronger evidence than this to even entertain the idea that he might be guilty.

But despite these issues, I still enjoy the story. So, what happens next?
Comments from author:
Re Paris - while you may be right, his normal disposal methods use a boat way out at sea, I'm not sure how well they'd adapt to a river in the middle of a city.

Re the distrust - Remember that this has happened over several days and that Deb was shown a lot of evidence - not just about Paris - which I didn't want to put in the story since it would have been repetitive. Rita is simply scared for her children; she's had an abusive relationship, and if she suddenly starts to see Dexter as dangerous she'll take whatever steps are needed to protect them from him and from any fallout that might accompany his arrest.

Re what happens next... hopefully I finish the story!

Just when I thought it was over, you pulled me back in again. The twist, the counter-twist, and the sheer sneakiness of it all is what gave this chapter it's exceptional rating. Yeah, I can believe that Gibbs is that sneaky and that ruthless to bring in Trent Kort to assist. I love this story!
Comments from author:
You think that's ruthless? Well, the next chapter will hopefully show just how ruthless Gibbs can be when he puts his mind to it.

Oh, Gibbs, you sneaky devil! After all these years, you can still surprise me with the lengths you'll go to and the people you'll work with in order to 'get your man'.
Comments from author:
Yup. He isn't done yet!

I guess you could say that was a nice burn laid on Kort. ;)
Comments from author:
Kort definitely underestimated him - we'll find out how badly in the next chapter.

Review:
Now this...i did not see coming....hahaha

nicely played...a twist worthy of Dexter.
You know...reading this have give me reason to watch season 6 of Dexter. I know its awesome...but the idea of Dexter being outed doesn't sit well with me...since i really couldn't see him continue living when all that he is is known to all. our current society is not that flexible.

Can't wait for the next chapter.
Comments from author:
I've enjoyed all of the seasons, but Dexter is gradually losing room to manoeuvre - they've said the current series will be the last, it'll be interesting to see how it ends.

Review of chapter "XIV" from RevDorothyL
Review:
Love seeing Dexter all but accusing Kort and the CIA of doing to HIM exactly what had been done by the people who'd had Michael Westen burned. A very credible alternative narrative, and one that both NCIS and the FBI might be willing to believe, given enough supporting evidence and their own bad past experiences with Kort. :)
Comments from author:
Not so much believe it, more realise that it muddies the water enough that it will be VERY difficult to prosecute Dexter.

Now that's how you lay a nice trap, ooh yeah.
Cool chapter, see ya!!!.
Comments from author:
Dexter is pretty intelligent and desperate for a way to get out of trouble. Antagonising Kort may not be the best way to do it.

Review:
The only reason why I'm not annoyed that you write the first line of every Michael Weston scene with "when you're a spy..." is because the series is so Damn guilty of it too. =)

Amazing story. Just when you think Dexter is out for the count he turns the tables somehow. But is it enough? More soon please!
Comments from author:
The trouble with Westen and Dexter is that they both have internal monologues, starting out with "When you're a spy" makes it clear that it's Michael's monologue. I'll try to vary it a little next time.

Son of a bitch! I have to admit that I was expecting the recruitment angle and all, but the twist you threw in with Dexter accusing the CIA to 'frame' him? Oh, that was awesome. Nice, very nice. Eagerly awaiting the conclusion to this story. It's wrapping up very nicely I think.
Comments from author:
He REALLY doesn't want to work anywhere near Gibbs (and even more Abby!), so he might as well take advantage some other way. But he may have just made a powerful enemy.

Muddy the waters, indeed. Or perhaps 'bloody the waters' would be the more apt term here. Seeing as he just threw a wounded CIA operative to the sharks.
Comments from author:
Kort deserves it. Kort ALWAYS deserves it!
