I was re-reading this today and had a thought about what could happen now. What I would like to see is the Council called up to answer for not providing aid to the LA battle, maybe some phone transcripts of Giles refusing to send help played to a tribunal where they judge the council and set some limits to their operations in the US. This series is alltogether a very nasty but plausible look at how the arrogance of the old council has passed onto the new council and I would very much like to see more in this verse. EDIT: Looking forward to it, loved the updates for DD and WITDCB too, keep up the good work.

Ultimately, the Council's leadership will have to answer for their decisions. It's not going to be pretty.
Darn, really good writing. I still hope the Scoobies and Kennedy gets what they asking for, their ass kicked and if robin is involved well Evil as I am I would have told him his mom had a death wish otherwise she would have fought harder to win. When Spike told the story she was tired and ready to die.
Do you think we could read more about Buffy's dad Illya Kuryakin in a sequel. He would be really good at planning revenge in the name of. don't you think.

Interesting twist on things. Buffy's solution to her problem was very intriguing, and I loved her reunion with Spike. Obviously, you've left a lot of room for future stories. Sasha and Gunn are with us; there's always the possibility that Spike will be back, maybe by means of the Shanshu; and then there's Buffy's real father. Would his last name be Kuryakin, by any chance? I'm looking forward to any future installments in the series.
I've really enjoyed this series thus far, while dark I find your portrayals to be in-character for Wood, Willow and Giles. I look forward to seeing where this goes next and to Angel's & Spike's reactions if they make it through the battle to Buffy's new look.

Thanks! Not everyone likes this version of the Buffyverse. I'm glad some folks do.

Interesting, if dark, series of stories. I had hoped that Faith was in the pro-Buffy camp and would follow her sister-Slayer to help. And I do think Xander would have been there if he had known what was going on. I look forward to the next story to see who comes out at the other end of the gauntlet.

Everyone but the Immortal thinks that Buffy is dead so no Faith or Xander coming to her side to help. And yes, this series is dark at this point.

It's good that Buffy didn't allow her personal feelings to rule her decision-making. It would have been really ironic if she picked Lindsey, though. Not only could she have saved his life, she could have saved Lorne from having to commit murder. Then again, did she even know about him?
Comments from author:
Buffy is maturing and using her head rather than her emotions. She was counting on Angel to give Lorne a less hazardous task than Gunn, which didn't work out too well for Lindsey.
Yay! Gunn gets to go to the major battle undamaged this time! Good choice, Buffy . . . er, Sasha.
I wish I could say that I thought this behavior on the part of Willow and Giles was totally OOC, but I'm afraid those final days before the battle of Sunnydale, and indeed the several years of history before that, make it only too believable, if there was never a true woarking out of differences afterwards, but only that quick band-aid of 'cheap grace' that was slapped on the bone-deep wound to Buffy's relationship with everyone but Spike and possibly Faith, just on the eve of battle so that they could get everyone's weapons temporarily pointed in the same direction--at the bad guys, for a change.

What can I say other than that I have a soft spot for Gunn.
As for Buffy and the Scoobies, the fracture lines were already forming before graduation. In this little corner of reality, they never got around to forgiving and forgetting.
