So, it would seem that Xander is an "accountant" in the sense that he holds dark mages and slayers-gone-bad to an accounting of their deeds. Yep, that works with being an assassin/wetworks team member. I'm sure Molly never looked that deep into what kind of "accountant" Xander was anyway. I think that this might have made the Ginny/Harry pairing work better for me in canon, if she had stood up to him and not let herself be brushed off while he went on his quest. She was just never very consistent in her presentation (imho). She went from besotted and near-stalker to limp dishrag and almost everywhere in between. I never saw a single reason for him to actually even give her a second look, in canon. So, especially since you said that you don't particularly care for her either, this was an excellent piece of writing. Thank you for offering it!

Ginny in canon: What bugs me about Ginny in canon is that, as far as Harry is concerned, Ginny is a complete non-entity except as a nuisance until his fifth year. She gets a little exposure in fifth year, but Harry shows no signs of interest. Suddenly, in his sixth year, Harry gets this mysterious 'monster in his chest' whenever he sees Ginny... Coincidentally, this is also the book where love potions become a fairly major plot device. Is it any wonder half of the anti-Ginny fanfic writers suspect a love potion was used on Harry? :p

great story i loved how you had xander giving ginny the pep talk i also liked how you had him and buffy together. I would to see you continue this story.

Nice. I like how Xander just dismisses Harry's choosing FOR Ginny and insisting she has to make her own decisions. Very thoughtful piece.
The X/B pairing at the end was a fun surprise too. There's plenty of sparkage between the two characters, and when they are paired up in fanfic they make an awesome team. It's sad there just aren't very many X/B pairing fics out there, probably because whenever you see someone try, they get blasted by negative reviews before the romance even starts. Very annoying.

Unfortunately Xander/Buffy suffers from a lot of problems, most of the time. It's very hard to overcome them. VladtheImpish and Greywizard do a pretty good job of overcoming them, though... ;)
I see a lot of parallels between Xander/Buffy and Ginny/Harry, the difference being that Xander has never let Buffy cut him out, no matter what she tried while Ginny just lets Harry do it... ;)

Very nice little ficlet. You know, it occurs to me that Arthur might understand exactly what Xander does for the Council but chose to tell Molly that Xander was an accountant instead of an assassin because she would pitch a fit if she understood what Xander's job really entailed.
Although this fic makes me wonder if Xander is still the heir apparent to lead the Council that they set him up to be in the season 8 comic?
