Review of chapter "Gryffindor vs. Slytherin" from asterope
Jut wanted to say that this was one of the most entertaining quidditch matches I've read. Fantastic.

Review of chapter "Quirrellmort" from Pointer
That was a fun read.
Quite a bit of a spin compared to most of the do over fics.
Of course, you know the end has the same relation to a cliffie as an orbital strike... a looong way down.

Review of chapter "Quirrellmort" from ChefJackButler
I'm finding one consistent problem in a lot of your stories. Your use of language is pretty good, and you've got a good eye for plotline. Your characterization is often inconsistent but the creativity of the plot makes up for it. But the biggest problem is how many of your stories you've seemingly abandoned.

EDIT: Sure, I can buy that. The entire reason I'm in the middle of Origin Story is because of a massive case of "Okay, now what" with my pro-novel "Fortune and Glory" that's lasted a month now. I was only able to sit down again with F&G after I got the rewrite chapter finished.
Comments from author:
Characterization is a qualitative rather than a quantitative assessment, and one that I tend to find myself particularly happy with actually. Mostly because I believe that having various emotions, personalities, and facets isn't being "out of character". It's being human. Nobody has one or two or three faces that they apply to literally everything in life. You react to good times and bad times differently, just as you react to friends and strangers and loved ones differently. People are complex organisms and so when writers get too focused on THE response to things, that's when shit gets flat and goes to hell. At least in my opinion. Some people see a story and go "that's perfect characterization because that's EXACTLY how Harry would react in the book!". I see the same scene and ask "why is Harry reacting to something completely outside the realm of anything he's ever seen or done in the same manner that he reacts to an unrelated event?".

As for abandonment, my health is terrible as is my significant other's. Often times, I'll stop working due to illness or needing to take care of her, and come up with some new idea during the recuperation period. When I come back, my muse is often unwilling to do anything productive on the old project until I get the new idea out onto paper. This story, though, along with the Wand of Uru variant? They were both constructed to try out two ways of fixing problems that ultimately brought Shell of the God-King to a screeching halt in 2007 and 2009. Someday, I'll probably sit down and condense the two stories into one and try to work with the gestalt file, though.

EDIT: You should see my mess in Scrivener right now. There's the original God-King with Tonks as the body double, the revision with less Tonks and a colder Illyria (what was posted as the 2k7 variant until I removed it), and then an '09 variant that never made it to the site but is distinctly different from both of the preceding versions. And I'm trying to boil all three down into a coherent whole that then includes Marvel additions, Tracey, the rest of the Greengrass-Davis clan, movie characters, Su...

Review of chapter "Dinner, Deliberations, & Discovery" from Arianith
Comments from author:
And as I told the other person, you don't seem to get that he's not the Ministry. He's a sixth and seventh year Hogwarts student and essentially a vigilante when he's fighting with the Order of the Phoenix and Dumbledore's Army. He has no power to negotiate with them for anything. The Ministry failed him and society as a whole, and that left him with a mess to clean up. Which he did.

Exception/norm: Ugh. I hate that I've been merging multiple files to make this story. Or the early chapters at least. I KNOW I fixed that before. Fixed it again. Thanks.

Review of chapter "Quirrellmort" from gryphkorval
Hrrm I was going to say a bit anti climatic... but then Dumbledore showed up and it was win, very nice ending to one of my all time favorite stories, as I mentioned in my review of Wand of Uru I truely enjoyed this story... repeatedly, that being said I await your next offering in this saga, whether here or as part of Uru with great expectation. Keep up the good work.

Review of chapter "Can You Handle the Truth?" from kalahari
I like your story very much. It kept me up very late last night, and I kept reading this Sunday.

On cats as food: here in Germany the euphemism is "Dachhase" (roof hare). I was told the English name is "tree hare". It is considered famine food by the older Generation, at least those who don't keep cats as pets. (Even than you really don't want to eat them before nearly anything else has been eaten (including the dogs), because you need them to keep away the rats.)
