SO, SO happy that you updated! I love that Buffy isn't just pretending that Roque is dead but actually letting herself grieve a little openly. Love the characterizations and the coziness of the kitchen scene as to me, that kind of situation always reads as family.

Marry me? Or at least be my secret lover (because I love my boyfriend-baby daddy very much). lol Fantastic chapter...loved seeing a little of Cougar & Buffy--as well as the shock of everyone when they saw just what Buffy had accomplished while they slept. Jensen's reaction to werewolves cracked me up--any chance Oz will be hanging out at the werewolf site? Although I'm also cool with Buffy being the only Scooby we actually see. I wonder if Cougar will tell Buffy that he's the one with the kill shot on Roque--or if she'll simply figure it out herself eventually (if she hasn't already). Wonderful job, this story isn't getting stale at all. In fact, I'd love another dozen chapters (or even more!). :D

LOVE how you used Buffy to rationalize Roque's decision. During the movie I kept wondering why he'd done it. Mercs easily make 100 times more than soldiers so if it was just a money thing, Roque didn't have to re-enlist and could simply sign with one of the private security firms or use his contacts to go free-lance. Since he didn't, that means he stayed for Clay. When you're willing to die for someone and follow them into hell, I don't really see you betraying them for a payout. The rationale you offered, actually made sense!!

Ha! Thank you! You have no idea how long I sat in front of the blank screen, trying to figure out what the heck Roque was thinking. Glad to know it worked out!
