Review of chapter "A Pat on the Back" from djhardim
Review:
Regarding Father Mulcahy's hearing (from the Wikipedia article for "AfterMASH") - "Father Mulcahy, whose hearing was damaged in the final episode of M*A*S*H, was suffering from depression and drinking heavily. Potter arranged for Mulcahy to receive an operation at another VA Hospital in St. Louis. After his hearing was surgically corrected, he stopped drinking and joined Potter and Klinger at "General General" as its Catholic chaplain."

Awesome.
Now all we need is him joining the Graduation with a platoon of veterans and a flamethrower filled with sacred oil...

Now that's an entertaining image...

I can just see Hawkeye and Buffy supporting each other in an 'I will not carry a gun' rant.... ;)

Review:
You did a wonderful job with both Xander and Father Mulcahy. I liked your take on Sunnydale, too--that a lot of people did know what was going on. Thanks for a thoughtful and well-done story.
Comments from author:
I appreciate the compliment. Thanks for an equally thoughtful review...

Father Dowling was played by Tom Bosely (Arther Cunningham) and was a crime solving priest along with a nun from his parish. Can't remember her name but she was fiesty.
Comments from author:
Intriguing. If I ever see anything with him, I may try to use him, or even this feisty nun you speak of...

Father Mulcahy is my favorite too. I loved MASH. I grew up watching the reruns. But the only thing that I think was off but I'm not sure, was that didn't the Father lose his hearing due to that blast in the last episodes of MASH? I don't remember if that was temporary or not but other than that you had him down pat! LOL This was great.
Comments from author:
The loss of hearing was implied to be getting progressively worse. However, I'm figuring with the right hearing aid it wouldn't have been a problem in the long term...

Review:
Nicely done, that sounded exactly like Father Mulcahy. He's my favorite fictitious chaplain, too. Or real one, for that matter.
Comments from author:
I've watched all eleven season of MASH more times than I care to admit to. I'm glad it shows... :p

Review of chapter "A Pat on the Back" from missinglink
Review:
Nice sweet and short. I always liked the somewhat practical nature of Mulcahey. He realized the reality of where he was and while he tried and fought for what he believed in amidst all that death and despair around him he also didn't push unless it was needed. He realized that just as much persuasion was by being the calmer head than by being right. I guess he could be considered a pragmatist with optimistic tendencies.

While I don't know how it might write itself out, would be interesting if Xander did a YAHF as Mulcahey and just how blended the two might be with their complimentary personalities. Food for thought. Appreciate the fic. Later.
Comments from author:
I've considered the idea of a YAHF with Xander as Mulcahy. I like the idea, but I'm having difficulty with it...

Review:
To Cordog:

He'd had temporary deafness from being a bit closer to a shell explosion than one could be happy about. There was progressive deafness building up after his recovery, however.

I figure advances in medicine and hearing aid technology would have kept him active, so the author definately was on the right track.

Review:
I liked this story, I always enjoyed MASH and Father Mulcahy was always a good character throughout the series, he's a good choice for talking to Xander.

One problem, wasn't Father Mulcahy going blind at the end of the series?
Comments from author:
No, he was going deaf. I figure he'd have a hearing aid by this point.
