This story is pretty entertaining, but I'm not seeing the plot. However, as long as you keep updating it, it's not a big deal.

Oh, I like. More, more, more, please. I can *so* see life after Sunnydale turning out this way, and I can't wait to see the further romantic adventures of Dawn and Duncan. With her being the key, and mystically made, there's always the possibility that she's effectively immortal even in a human body. Keep up the good work. Zafaran

I saw your pen name and thought Zeffron, lol! Thank you for the comment though, it made me smile.

Looks like Dawn and Duncan bring out the best in each other, of course he is much too old for her :) I hope you get inspired to write more in this story, perhaps Duncan meeting the other scoobies?

Hi! I appreciate your response. :) If you're looking for an alternative anti-depressant, most don't have a huge abuse potential (the story makes it seem like Dawn is abusing the antidepressants to an extent? Although that might not be what you're going for.) One of the reasons antidepressants tend to have such a low abuse potential is that given the mental state of those taking the medications, the low doses administered make it extremely hard to OD on them. Most antidepressants are taken on a strict time schedule, partly because, at least in the SSRIs, if you discontinue them you get these really uncomfortable brain shocks. MAOIs are harder to quit and have a lot of contraindications, but still dont' have much abuse potential.

You could still have Dawn taking valium- just give her an anxiety problem instead of depression, if that fits your story. Valium is pretty fast acting for anti-anxiety and would give the detached feeling that you're talking about, not to mention the high abuse potential. Anxiety also has a pretty high comorbidity with depression, so she could also be on both (though if she's on an antidepressant, I'd recommend putting her on an SSRI like Prozac, since I'm not sure about the interractions of MAOIs wtih benzoids like Valium, but it's probably extreme since just about anything taken with MAOIs can kill you.)
Comments from author:
Thinking on it -and after checking it out-, anxiety seems like it would be more appropriate for the situation, thanks for the suggestion. ^_^ I'll edit the chapter when I have more time since I'm currently supposed to be writing a paper, haha...

I don't suppose you know what its like to try and pull yourself off of V would you? Again I can only pull from what I know and that was kind of hellish.

And she is being slightly abusive with her medication, but Dawn is sort of a self destructive character at times. Sometimes it gets taken too far in fics and other times not enough, so I thought I'd go for a more subtle version of her behavior that the people in her life wouldn't notice as easily.

Review:
I very much like this, but a brief nitpicky constructive crit.

Valium isn't an anti-depressant, it's anti-anxiety. It's usually prescribed for withdrawing alcoholics and people with anxiety disorders, or for seizures. It can actually increase depression.

Most antidepressants don't instantly make you feel better or make you feel detached, though (well, detachment might come while you go on the meds) but they're more subtle. After about a month or two your brain chemistry evens out and everything is lovely.

But yeah. Diazepam is most certainly not an antidepressant, and Dawn taking it would be a very bad idea.
Comments from author:
This isn't the first time I've gotten some information about this and I appreciate the input. However, I was going by what I was told by a friend and what I know of Muscle relaxers.

I didn't know Valium was used for Seizures though, but i stopped being treated for those two years ago. Learn something new everyday. If you could get back to me on a better alternative that would be wonderful.

In the story Dawn isn't ever really Not medicated, and I know tha when I was on Depakote It was a very uncaring feeling for most of my day/month/life.
