Ares wants Buffy to be a *godly minion* while he pulls the strings like Niccolo Macchiavelli - a shame he didn't get the *rest* of the Fates' prophecygram in the previous chapter or he'd realize what a Jupiter-sized goof he is making. (I'm referring to the planet - not Ares' daddy.) New Zealand - the retirement area for Xena and Gabrielle. Yes - they heard what Ares is up to. Yes - they have decided to sharpen the chakrams (the sword-rings that Xena is known for using on the Big Bads of her day), lace up the sandals, and head east. (Backstory - Lucy Lawless is originally Australian by heritage, and one of the better "ANZAC exports" in the acting biz.) Angel himself catches up to Kevin Sorbo and gives him the skinny, while Xander and Oz head to the Land of Lightning Bolts and Missions (AKA San Diego, home of the NFL Chargers and MLB Padres).

Yeaaa! Ares! He's fun. And I happen to like the idea of Buffy becoming a god. I'm wondering if any of the other Scoobies will turn out to be hidden Olympians, I know you said the stone didn't react to any of them, but you also said the other demigods' "godly" essence was bound. I mean, Williow's "potential" has to come from somewhere, right? Or if you are maybe considering making this a multi-crossover I can't help but think Heady Lang from NCIS:LA really should have some connection to Athena. Anyway this seems like it could be another winner for you, I track all your stories. So here" the obligatory "Please Write More". PLEASE WRITE MORE! In all caps and with an exclamation point no less.

Glad you love it, however school work comes first which is why most of my stories are feeling the neglect right now. Once school is out I imagine my creative juices will be more focused on these rather than boring things. Honestly never seen NCSI:LA though so big no on them.

Really good job. Love it. And love the Buffy trying to beat up Ares. It'd be cool to see her and Herc kick his butt so hard he kisses the moon. Anyways love it.

Thanks for this. I've always wanted a Buffy/Ares story but I don't think I've ever read any.
Angel or Angelus, it didn't matter. He was never enough for Buffy. She needed someone to keep her on her toes like Ares.
Yeah he's an ass but you so now that Buffy is more than capable of bringing him back down to the real world. As much as I liked the Xena/Ares relationship, you knew nothing else would come.
With Buffy/Ares, there is a chance, no matter how small and I hope that's the way you take it. Either way, I'll continue to read and enjoy.

First, Buffy IS the Slayer. That's the magic that woke up her potential. Is it so hard to imagine that the Slayer line eventually intersected with the Zeusian bloodline? That means that he's making the Slayer spirit in her stronger.
Second, the reverberations of his forced empowerment will activate and empower heroes the world over. In short, he's stabbing himself in the foot yet again. I seriously believe Ares' actions gave rise to the admonition not to run with scissors..
(In one episode of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, a general of Ares lamented.. well, more like bitched.. over how after fighting your way to the top, actually becoming Ares' Chosen more or less gave you a lifespan shorter than a mayfly in a blast furnace.)

I love the beginning, not sure how it will play out or what will happen later, do not want to even guess... not too spoil the fun, but... what you got so far seems to point to lots and lots more awesomeness to come :D
