Glad to see he survived, even if he does have plot armour. And Rail guns to go with the lasers, a very interesting world indeed. The effect immulsion must have had on technological changes is impressive. Energy and rail type weapons in hands. Satellites prevalent enough with sufficiently sophisticated computers to analyse weapon requests on the fly. Or am I over thinking this world of yours?
Curious as to what the age requirements are for the Imperials, most organisations like to get them young when they can be better moulded.
And a little bit of me hates you for cliff hanging us again. Fortunately the rest of me is nothing but grateful for another good chapter.
Comments from author:
My idea always was that imulsion is like oil times ten. The kind of power it can produce made technological advancement speed up to roughly twenty years beyond where we're at now. You aren't over-thinking it, that's just about where I wanted the story to be.
I didn't want the Imperials to come off like some kind of SS or Stassi group. They're just a very elite police force, possibly one you have to be born in unless you know someone. I haven't decided how it works, or if I'll even delve that deeply into it.
I'm keeping the chapters short so I can keep putting them out there. Long chapters on my story 'Headhunters' burned me out it. Keeping them short just allows me to work on them without too much pressure. Unfortunately, cliff-hangers are just good spots to end them.
Thank you for your thoughts, and your review. Both are appreciated.
Good to see more chapters from, even if you are being stingy and just giving us enough of a chapter to tease us and create a cliffhanger.
Plus the idea of a gun with a payment plan that craps out on you at just the wrong time is one that I could believe from a government, along with a black market in unlocked weapons (probably obscenely costly given the measures you described them as having).
And please tell me he's remembered his lessons about backups that don't cost credits to use and has something suitable in the edged or blunt categories.
Comments from author:
It can be annoying, I know. But that's just the way this story turned out. When I started it, I was sick of making those huge chapters for my story 'Headhunters'. These shorties were a nice change of pace.
I got a kick out of the idea for the guns as well. The fact that they make you listen to commercials while you're trying to stay alive, was just all the better. I would definitely agree with you on the cost of guns that you didn't have to worry about. I'd say even with hazard pay, they're way out of Xander's budget.
I'm honestly not sure how Xander is going to get out of this one yet. I've got a couple of different ideas, but nothing I've really decided on yet. We'll see what happens.
I do agree with you, but I'm working on multiple stories at the moment. I'd rather put out short chapters, then go weeks without posting anything. Xander will see some action next chapter, I promise.

Interesting and unusual story. I look forward to reading more.
Comments from author:
It's definitely a lot different then my other stories, but that was what I was going for. I'm just going for whatever comes to mind while I write it. I hope you like the rest of it.
Thanks for the review.

Review of chapter "Chapter Three" from michaelangelo
Review:
wow, interesting tale, I recognize the Gears of War Emulsion and the Fallout New Vegas Thompson machine gun type laser and figure your a bit of a first person shooter game nut... bit like me really.
Very, very nice.
Comments from author:
I was wondering where the idea for the Thompson laser gun came from. I originally got F:NV when it came out, but traded it in for being too buggy. Now that you mentioned it, I can clearly remember the gun.
I'm very big on the FPS games, it started all the way back with the original Wolfenstein. I've gotten picky with age though, it's harder and harder for me to find one that can hold my interest these days.
Thank you for the review.
