I never liked Dawn, but I kind of thought of maybe Buffy wishing she was a little ball of energy again would suffice in getting rid of her. That and sending her to the furthest galaxy in the universe.
Glory wouldn't be able to find her then.

I have to agree with the other reviewer there is no way that a Canon Giles would have done this, at least not without doing some very serious research into other options and wether or not killing dawn would even destroy the key.

too neat and simple. Like one I read where Robin figures out that if Buffy was dead the First would lose his power since it was her ressurection that gave him his chance. So he shoots her dead. Of course he turns out wrong and that just made the first's triumph inevitable. Since there was no way to end what had started.
Giles would not do this right away. He would look for other answers first. Only after he was sure there was no other way and they had no chance to stop Glory would he do this. Because what if he was wrong and shooting her would only start it right now; or something else just as bad.
