I know I have not reviewed very often (had to get to that next chapter, don't you know), nut I have finished the two big kahunas and want more soon.
I am a sucker for epic stories. Yours qualifies.
The Star empire Emporer is an idiot and deserves what he gets.

Comments from author:
The Khkerrikk Emperor may be an idiot, but he's a powerful. He'll get what's coming to him, but not without costing a lot of lives and doing a great deal of harm.
Thanks for the review - glad you're enjoying this one.

Review of chapter "Diplomacy and the Dogs of War - Part One" from
maxthehobbitReview:
I decided to read this whole series again, it's the first time I've read it all for a second time. I have reread parts many times. I get a good laugh at how it all started with a vengeance demon. Cordy's first combat in Somalia ... it's so well written that I can almost imagine and even feel how terrifying that would be. The interchange between Dawn and the Empress is good, but the interaction between her and Lam is even more interesting. I like the way you write Dawn being a mischievous teenager and the way she speaks her mind, like getting SG-15's CO to ask her Mother to the 'Big Dance/Party, then blurting out that she likes him as a Father figure. Then Joyce thinking about him putting his life on the line in the war.
There is so much going on in this story ... I have no idea how you keep track of everything. So many story lines.
My curiosity about just what Joyce will find and if the Latin dictionary will reveal many things that she isn't sure of. I just think that this is her chance to be a Hero.
And the war, well that has to be a biggie, but I don't think it will top that of defeating Glory. I think you have the right idea, fighting a 'God' shouldn't be as easy as it was in BtVS. LOL I think I'm addicted to this series.
Hope you have the time to write in the near future, I unfortunately know how it goes. With my hobbies I never seem to have the money when I have the time, or when I have the money I don't have any time to spare.
Thanks for writing this truly Epic series.
Comments from author:
I'm glad you enjoyed it enough to read it all through once, let alone twice! The series actually started as a one-shot, but it stubbornly refused to stay that way...
Cordy's first combat in Somalia was a trciky one - I never know if my action scenes are going to read properly or not (I'm currently tearing my hair out over the battle scene in Bastet's palace). In some ways, the interchange between Dawn and Drayana is every bit as hard for the latter, as she's had a very controlled childhood, with little contact with those her own age or younger. Dawn is a combination friend and little sister figure. Dawn is, as you say, a mischievous nearly-teenager, who speaks her mind, but isn't so Machiavellain as she thinks she is. The idea of Logan being a father-figure comes straight from the heart.
I always thought Lam was underused in Stargate (and I loved the actress in the character of Rommie in Andromeda Ascendant).
Joyce will find several uses for the Latin dictionary. While she might not be a hero in the traditonal sense, her contribution will be valuable. The war hasn't really started yet... But you're right - Glory never seemed tough enough to be a God in the series (no tougher than some demons).
I'm currently writing the next chapter of FLP, albeit more slowly than I'd like.
Thanks for the review

Another excellent chapter. Things seem to be going as well as could be expected for the Tallurans, but I suspect that they will have to deal with some setbacks soon.
Still can't wait to see how Buffy, Cordy and company will react to the fact that the "escape" from Glory may have been the proverbial leap out of the frying pan.
Comments from author:
As you say, it's all going a little too well just now. That said, not only are the Khkerrik much less of a threat than all the Vedda Galaxy powers had assumed, but the Tallurans are proving to be a much more potent military power than anyone had guessed (including themselves).
Buffy and Cordy aren't going to be happy that their mother and sister were put in harm's way. On the other hand, not much they can do about it...
Thanks for the review.

Love the progress in Joyce and Logan's relationship, and I look forward to more of this series, whenever you're able to post it! :)
Comments from author:
I need to flesh out the character a little and I didn't originally intend to go down this route, but Logan would seem to be a good romantic match for Joyce and new father figure for Dawn (probably Buffy and Cordy, too - the latter especially needs one).
The next chapter I post will be for FLP, but another one of these won't be far behind.
Thanks for the review - glad you're still enjoying the story.

Hey, sorry for taking so long to review- i read your latest chapter when it came out but then had internet problems and rl got in the way of my writing a proper review
Okay, so, first of all, your showing, not telling of diplomacy between your young empress and the others was really well done, doing an excellent job of conveying her thoughts and emotions while furthering the story along nicely.
The battles between the Tallurans and their not so friendly neighbors was just fun, but with a serious undertone about everything going on.
The various relationships are progressing nicely, with all of the realistic doubts and problems that other fanfics tend to ignore to their detriment (but not yours)
Honestly, the only thing I found annoying was Joyce being rather thick- almost too much so. I know that was very intentional as the author, but i've always seen Joyce as someone who can see through most things- once she's been clued in the first place, but, all it will take is one small conversation with Faith to clear up the terrifying prospect of more hellmouths in the vedda galaxy.
your news about further updates instills in me great hope!
Keep up the fantastic work as always and update again soon! (Tho take as long as you have to - quality over quantity! Just don't pull a George RR Martin and take 6 years between books :P )
Comments from author:
Thanks for the review.
Joyce wasn't being thick, just tired. There's also the part where I simply forgot to add a reference to a possible Hellmouth of course (I've now added a few lines to that effect - let me know what you think). The Tallurans know about Hellmouths - I mentioned in an earlier chapter that they avoid such worlds, but I can't remember which one. In any case, the text actaully isn't referring to a Hellmouth, but something else entirely...
The war is likely to take a few more serious turns in the next chapter - it's just been a little too one-sided up to this point.
Glad you're still enjoying this.

Nothing like an incompetent opposition to help out the underdog. :-)
I love this story! It's one of my all time favourites.
Comments from author:
The underdog is also frighteningly competent with a greater technological edge than anticipated - but things won't necessarily continue quite so smoothly...

grdReview:
Summers women really know where to find excitement. I hope Wade really does become a father to Dawn. Plz. When the time comes for them to eventually return to Earth perhaps an embassy could be exchanged between the two worlds. Cordy, Buffy, and Faith shopping in another galaxy would rock.
Comments from author:
Logan might eventually become a father to Dawn, but not yet (it's all been rather sudden so far). I suspect Buffy and Cordy would also appreciate having someone they could call dad, given Hank Summers' and Greg Chase's records.
An embassy would be pretty useless right now, given the distance between the Vedda Galaxy and Milky Way, but if they can solve the distance problem, then the Tallurans would become a very important ally of Earth (a fleet large and powerful enought to deal with any Goa'uld System Lord, possibly more than one at a time).
Thanks for the review.

SulienReview:
I love this series to pieces and am so very glad to see more of it posted! I really enjoy all of your original characters, they are fully realized and very likeable (or detestable, in certain cases), as are the various different alien races and cultures. "Key to the Stars" is turning out to be a truly wonderful science fiction romp that you could fairly easily re-work as original fiction and have published, if you have the inclination to do so. It's something to consider.
Thank you for the update! I hope real life continues to be better to you.
ETA: As a human being without access to an alien mind, it is near impossible to write from an alien perspective. However, CJ Cherryh has managed to do quite well on a number of occasions, despite that. I recommend you check out her "Chanur Saga" and "Chanur's Legacy", as well as "Cuckoo's Egg". If you want an alien race whose perspective will totally set you on your ear, read Orson Scott Card's "Speaker for the Dead"; it's from the humans' POV, but is quite effective in relaying the alien's culture and mind set.
Comments from author:
I didn't actually intend to write this as a story in its own right, just as a series of scenes embedded within Fate's Little Plaything, but it eventually took on a life of its own. I really need to write an OC character that's utterly alien - so far, even the aliens have had human traits of one sort or another.
Thanks for the enthusiastic review - glad you're still enjoying this.

maxthehobbitReview:
I was just thinking about this story last week, then I about lost it when I saw there was an update this morning. Looks like the Tallurans are getting plenty of assistance even from friendly enemies, but they'll need it although their first strike turned out better than expected. Apparently the Asguard are being held up by something they can't dismiss, maybe replicators or maybe the ORI are in the picture now.
To me the big mystery now is the translations Joyce is doing ... will it be an answer to saving the Tallurans or a possible end to Glory. At any rate it should be interesting whatever answer you come up with.
The best thing about your chapters is that they are so long and filled with plenty to think about ... other authors stories are not as long as one of your chapters.
This whole series is without a doubt the best story I've ever read in the fan fiction area and probably even the realm of any fiction I've ever read.
Thanks for writing, it's very entertaining.
Comments from author:
Thanks for the review - glad you're still enjoying this.
The Tallurans will, indeed, continue to need support. The Asgard are busy with something else (might be the Replicators, might be something else, but not the Ori at this point).
Joyce won't turn up anything to help against Glory, but potentially she might make a big difference to the future of the Talluran Empire. After all, the Vedda Galaxy makes the Milky Way look positively peaceful and the Goa'uld like a bunch of wannabes...
Thanks again for your kind words. :-)

ShalaDakiriReview:
Sounds like, for the Ch'Hanis and Zahartes, it's a case of 'Who do we hate more' while the Jarrassii seems to understand that while Drayana made a mistake in covering up the Faceless One's awakening, she is at least attempting to clean up the mess.
Anyway, I'm also curious about Joyce's translation project. The constellation descriptions sound like a partial Stargate address while "Mouth of the Underworld" had me jumping to another term for a Hellmouth.
Comments from author:
It's not just "who do we hate more" for the Zaharte and Ch'Hanis, but also who's more likely to attack us in future. of coruse, the Talluran military's performance will also be a nasty shock to both. The Jarrassii are, as you say understanding - also a relatively peaceful race (albeit with the military power to protect themselves). Not all the other species can be bad guys - or potentially bad guys - after all.
Joyce's project? You'll just have to wait and see... "Mouth of the Underworld" certainly isn't a Hellmouth, however.
Thanks for the review.
