Review of chapter "Circumventing Causality" from (Current Donor)Sulien
Review:
Just finished with season one of TSCC and came looking for fic, since I googled the rest of the series and just didn't care to watch it. I love this, though! I really enjoyed getting inside Rodney's head and seeing his take on the whole situation and I agree with what you have him and John Sheppard thinking and saying here. I really hope you decide to add more to this one, some day.

Have to say for the umpteenth time: I love the way your brain works and the way you get inside the characters' heads to look at situations, whether the story be a crossover with another story universe or within only one canon. Freaking brilliant. And I'm glad that you're not an evil mastermind, because you'd make a good one with that ability to think from so many different perspectives.
Comments from author:
:) The downside of writing stories this way: I have to consume a lot of canon to put my head in the right space; squishing my brain into the right mold, is how I think of it. Takes a lot of time and focus.

I didn't exactly finish T:SCC either; I think I made it about halfway through season 2 before wandering off for lack of interest. One of these days I'll catch up, probably; I have a few more time-pretzel ideas, one of which "explains" the Transformers universe. *grin*

Oh, I like this. Finally, he interacts with an intelligent, strategic [NOT tactical], reasonable authority group. Well done!

I know it's unlikely, but any chance at more?

Sounds like a plan. John should go for it, he has finally found some people who not only believe him but also have the means to protect themselves from robot assassins sent from the future. Happy non-apocalypse everyone!

Circumvent Causality?

Easy answer: SCREW FATE, and don't wait for it to have happened already!
Comments from author:
It's not that easy for him, because the world's still populated with Terminators from the future determined to mess things up, and he feels like it's his responsibility to take care of that. But yeah, he's stuck in a bit of a rut. I think the Atlantis crew might break him out of it. =)

And therein lies the ever-present problem of fighting wars; you get so used to thinking in terms of blowing things up to stop what you're trying to prevent that the possibility of a non-military solution such as INDIRECTLY preventing what you're trying to avert never occurs to you.

Granted, John's never had access to geniuses capable of creating a BENEVOLENT A.I. on the scale he'd need, but the principle is sound enough (Although I have to wonder how he got on Atlantis; is this set whil it's still on Earth after "Enemy at the Gates", or what?).

I have to admit, I wouldn't mind seeing more of this (Particularly regarding how everyone reacts to Cameron; she might be an A.I., but at least she's SLIGHTLY less dangerous than the Replicators, and hence may not need to be physically destroyed...); keep up the good work!
Comments from author:
Yes, this is right post Season 5, hence Rodney thinking rude thoughts about when the IOA is finally going to let them go back to Pegasus. (And in my head, some other "Resistance" person appeared and walked up to John and told him how to get aboard, since it is, y'know, the seat of where Skynet would operate from in the "current" reality. Said person probably actually being some kind of alien agent, taking advantage of John's known patterns of behavior.)

I doubt they'd actually take Cameron apart; John was pretty nice to that female pseudo!Replicator on Earth, in the end, and he keeps letting Todd live. But he'd use her to trap some T-888's, I'm sure, and pick her brain for all she'd tell him, and set John to explaining all he knows of the programming to Rodney's people (since he's pretty bright under all the obsessions). Hmmm. You're right, there might be more story there.

Sweet! Yes, one of the major problems with time travel stories is either the Grandfather Paradox counters anything you do to change the past or all you do is create a new time-line. Heck, even on the SCC they had two or three alternate futures futzing around in the Terminators' past/our present. Time travel stories make my head hurt, but I liked your story.
