Review of chapter "Recovery Time" from Gideon
Review:
Interesting to see the different approach taken in this story. Some things are the same as other time travel stories even though Ron is the protaganist but some things are different. The Hero (Harry) almost seems jealous of Ron, now that he has a secret quest of his own, even though Harry has always despised the fame that was thrust upon him. And the contrast between the people Ron wants to save in this present- notably his sister, and those he wants to save in his future is also interesting. I guess from his perspective Ginny is already dead in his future so going back to Herminoe and Harriet doesn't kill her again but she will have to be left behind in this world if he does find a way home.
The "emotional maturity potion" is a great idea! His friends have recognised something of the fundamental changes in Ron, even though he was trying to hide them :) The pride that he feels that they recognise he has grown must mix with his shame for ever being such a prat and his despair at what their well meaning interference may bring about if they keep digging :(
Hopefully they will take the Headmaster's words fully onboard. For once he really doesn't want them to investigate on their own!

Thanks for the review. The thing about Harry being jealous came from two scenes in the books. While Harry always hated the fame of being the boy who lived, he hated being left in the dark about the fight with Voldemort more. I can't imagine a scenario where he would be happy with being forced to sit on the sidelines while his friends went on important missions.

Another scene in the books that I found quite telling was his reaction when Ron was made prefect in book five. If I remember correctly, he was happy for Ron, but also jealous, just as a normal 16 year old would be. Honestly, I liked how the reaction rounded out his character a little. At the end of book 5 I believe Harry flat out asks Albus why he wasn't made prefect.

As for Ron's concern for Hermione and Harriett over Ginny and others, it's just a matter of time. He's dealt with most of the grief that came with Ginny, Hermione and Harriett are still very fresh wounds.

Glad you like the maturity potion theory.

Very well done, and a little hard to read too, in that painful way when characters you care about are hurting. I hope there is more soon. Thank you for writing.

This is a pretty good time travel fic, though I don't see how it's connected to BTVS.

Waiting for an update. It's been a year.

This one isn't a buffy cross, It's why it's in the non crossover category. Also there was an update like 3 weeks ago. Thanks for the review.

Wonderful chapter, and wonderful story. I can see how the chapter would be challenging to write, the whole concept of the imperius charm is horrifying, and what Ron was forced to do was just sickening on every level. His reaction to Snape's intrusion into his mind seems fitting and realistic, especially given the other upheavals he has had recently. Also, I'm impressed with your ability to keep Ron's maturity intact, he reads as a grown man, without being either Super!Future!Ron, and without forcing the other characters to act more immaturely to highlight his maturity, which sometimes happens in time travel stories.

I really enjoy this darker twist on a re-do HP story, and as mentioned above, your characterizations are spot on. Everything so far in this story just works; the flow, the plot, characterizations. And it's lovely to have a Ron who's three-dimensional, and who seems to have grown realistically from the hothead he was as a youth. Also? Kudos for not writing Hermione's and Ron's marriage as a perfect fairytale thing, but keeping it realistic during those few glimpses we get in Ron's memory.

Thanks ever so much for sharing, have fun writing and happy 2012 to you.

Regards, Tals

Great chapter. Ron was always susceptible to his emotions, and with so much pressure on him he's bound to crack a little and make poor decisions. It'll be interesting to see how this affects Snape though.

Excellent story. You have a great premise, and your writing has done it justice. I'm especially impressed with how well you've maintained the characterizations from canon. Everyone but Ron is absolutely dead-on; and Ron seems quite Ron-like while still being an adult. You're portraying his issues well. Dumbledore comes across as being manipulative, but still kind-hearted and worthy of respect and affection.

I also really appreciate how Harry, Hermione, and Ginny have major roles.

Hmm, they already have experience with time turners, so I'm surprised it hadn't occurred to them given Ron's statements. Looking forward to the next chapter!

Review of chapter "What's Wrong With Ron" from trongod
Review:
The only reason I see Hermione and Ron together in the Future!Ron's timeline is the needless death of Harry back in his 17 year old body. The lack of a choice, along with the years of Ron antics, basically combined with the war mentality and isolated them with each other, hence the whole relationship and marriage.

Now that he's changing events, it is probable that instead of Fiendfyre, the A. K. can be used to eliminate Harry's internal Horcrux - which STILL makes no freaking sense at all!! - while leaving Harry alive to find out if he and Hermione can make a go of it.

No, I do not like Ron/Hermione, as few take the time and effort to make Ron likeable, much less a person Hermione would date after suffering his verbal diarrhea for so long. In this story, Ron has changed, had been forced to by the tragedies he suffered and witnessed for nearly 20 years. He wants his life back, I understand all that, BUT this Hermione is years younger than he; she and Harry are more of a match, even Krum is more of a match than Ron and she are. If he tries to make things go with Hermione, he'll be forcing her to change into someone /he/ wants, not someone she wants to be.

At this point, it is possible Hermione does have a crush on the idiot he was - although I believe she tolerates him due to Harry, and has grown to like him as a friend over the years - since I have seen youths being stupid in this way during my life. But again, it's more due to lack of choice on her part than any real attraction. And if that's the way it is, I'd say Harry is far more attractive to her than is Ron, mostly because he listens, doesn't argue to the point of driving one or both into a rage - usually Hermione storming off in tears -, he supports her in her activities without trying to change her/attack her/insult her - being called mental nearly every time she wants to research or do homework... In fact, while the split between Harry and Ron at the start of the tournament hurt Hermione, it seemed to me more because Harry was depressed by it than Hermione really caring.
In other words, I'm sincerely hoping this turns out a Noble Ron Sacrificing A Possible happy Future To Ensure His Friends lives And Happiness... 'cause damn near everything in canon from the hack written Book 5 on put Harry in to that exact position, which is why I prefer fanfiction.

Well, well, well. Hermoine is clever indeed. Will they keep their spying to themselves, or foolishly rush to confront Ron?
