Interesting. I love tricksters, so this was a pleasure to see. As much as I like him here, I have to wonder if it's related to the file David saw on the WRH computer, Coyote Wishes. Having the attention of a trickster is a dangerous place to be, even if he likes you, or maybe especially if he likes you. Looking forward to seeing what comes next.
Another great part! Can't wait to see what he comes up with. Isolation may be lonely, but it also means he's competely free, free to upset the games in play.

Great to see more in this series. I've got to agree with the other reviewers, it's time Xander stops reacting to events and starts to set events in motion himself. Have the other groups start reacting to what HE and his people do. From the first story in the series up till now, you've been hinting at people and events, that will culminate into something much larger.
We've seen Megan, Maria, David and others not mentioned by name. The sources he's been using inside and outside the council, like the Shaman that made his holy water potion. The fact he can break into a Council House even though they've changed the access, just because he's the one who designed the security setup. The Council, for all their modernization, as Lewis Miller stated, are still hide-bound traditionalists and always will be, looking at Giles with his 'love' for computers and assigning Wood as head for North America or Willow, who at this point in time, couldn't do more than use Google to find stuff, where she used her hacker skills only a few years earlier. Xander is practical and having a backer like Nabbitt on his side? Adding in at least two Slayers, a shaman and how many more regular supernaturally inclined people he'll be able to recruit, things can only get more interesting.
I'm looking forward to the next story in this series.

Trickster gods are always interesting, especially when they're well written, like here. Also, what part of Anza-Borrego do you usually go to? My family camps at Borrego Springs every winter, and you're right, it is beautiful country.
Comments from author:
I lived in Borrego Springs for three years, teaching at the middle and high schools. I have very fond memories of the beauty of the area, even if I was parched for rain. It's the only place I've ever lived where I could see the Milky Way.
