Review of chapter "a pond with no fish" from VillageOrchid
Review:
Have they gotten together before Jack got his General and Homeworld Security promotion?
I imagine after that he'd have a briefing on Willow's group. This is a nice way for them to have a couple of years together on-and-off.
Comments from author:
Quite honestly, there are many ways and circumstances that they could find out about each other (especially if they were trying). I have read many fics where on the Scooby side runs across the Stargate world through hacking, the Council's old contacts, or Riley. I haven't specifically placed Jack in the Stargate timeline - partially because large parts of the Stargate-verse run together for me - but mostly because that isn't the part that I wanted to focus on. This was never really about their work, it was the way there characters found comfort away from that. Now I acknowledge that might seem odd to some but I also think that there would still be the possibility as well that even after he became a General and had higher clearence there might be some things he wouldn't be privy to.

Wow, hope I didn't run to long on you there. Thanks so much for your reviews. I really appreciate the feedback. :)

Review:
Thank you for this, I really enjoyed it. Willow and Jack are not really a pairing I would consider, but this works really well on all levels the way they simply 'don't talk about things'. In their worlds, the not talking about it while away re-energizing/escaping from the turmoil and responsibility is probably one of the best coping mechanisms they could have. Just so long as the streams never cross....
Comments from author:
One of the things I personally enjoy the most about the story is the fact that "the streams never cross". They're finding comfort in each other because of the simple fact that they don't have to hide and they can relax knowing the other won't ask these things.

I think not doing the traditional "meeting of the worlds" crossover is actually the most fascinating part for me and makes them work better in an odd way. They blend better to me when it's just two people who have had hard lives and are currently working crazy crazy jobs - that are pracrticaly their lives - and then simply come to each other to re-energize as you said.

Ran long there. Sorry about that. *laughs* Thanks for taking the time to review. :)

Review:
so... she notices that River is like Dana, but she doesn't notice that Mal looks exactly like Caleb? ...kay...
Comments from author:
She was noticing that River acted like Dana. Mal simply looks like Caleb - the same actor, they are very different people. There were actually a few actors/actress that were repeated throughout a bunch of anything Joss Whedon did. Off the top of my head the actors who played Jayne, River, and Zoe were all on Angel on different times. And I wasn't trying to imply that she was recognizing a person only that River was very similar in actions and temperament to Dana.

I hope that clears things up and I apologize for any confusion. Thanks for commenting.

Written with a very gentle touch... sweet but not saccharine. Lovely.

Plans to continue? (nudge's smolder like a hopeful kitty)

Comments from author:
Hopeful kitty - the not well known but secretly more powerful weapon than the puppy dog eyes. *laughs*

Like most things I originally intended to stand alones, this hasn't left my head space. So, I'm not saying there won't ever be more. The problem is I always wanted this to work without having it involve pulling Jack into the demon world or Willow into the alien-fighting one. It always seems to be done that way - I've read it done so many times and so well, that I felt the need to be contrary. To just do a fic where they are both just people with crazy lives that relate because of that even though they can't talk about said lives.

...the more I explain it the more I want to play with the whole thing more. Oh, brain.

Thanks for your kind words, Blue. I was going for companionship much more than epic romance with the feel, and I'm glad I didn't fall in to the overly fluffy trap. Although I suppose if the trap was fluffy it wouldn't hurt to bad....oh, brain. *shakes head*

This was rather lovely! I really enjoyed the relationship you had growing between Willow and Jack. I loved the easy companionship/comfort/understanding they've found with the other. It was very nicely done and definitely makes me wish for more :)

Anyway, great little fic! And if you ever decide to write more to this verse, I will definitely read it! Thanks for writing!!
Comments from author:
Thanks LeaFairy. I really don't have a follow up planned for now but I appreciate knowing that you'll be there to read it if I do write it. Thank you for your kind words and taking the time to review. :)

Review:
That was excellent, very heart-warming.

Was nice to see the crossover done without massive and unwarented spillings of secrets, just simple companionship and comfort.

Well done and thanks for sharing.
Comments from author:
Yeah, I had no interest in trying to re-tread over what I had already read done so many other times - so much better than I could do it. I never want to copy-cat anyone else, so I figured I would just go with what came naturally to me, writing-wise - human companionship.

That seems easier for me to do than action. *laughs*

Thank you for your kind words and taking the time to review!

very well done. fine read, thank you. really would like to read more of this relationship.
Comments from author:
I might do more in the future, vladt. I haven't written or fully planned anything else yet though, this was meant to stand on it's own feet. I do find myself enjoying their relationship as well though, so I might come back to it.

Thank you for reviewing!
