Review of chapter "nothing outwardly noteable" from Matron
This is one good support staff starring Fred. Too bad you won't add on to it.
Comments from author:
I've actually thought about doing a follow up. Another one-shot deal - mainly because I'm semi-obsessed with Poison Ivy and kinda want to have Fred interact with the criminal side of Gotham a bit.

I'm glad you liked this bit though and thank you for taking the time to review, Matron.

I am very sorry that I don't have enough recommendations to spend one on this - I love epics and wanna encourage good long-term stories.
But this is an EXCELLENT quick story. A great idea I hadn't heard before (not that Fred got reincarnated or whatever, but Illyria could've just shoved her elsewhere), nailed her character pretty nicely, and in a role that made perfect sense (happy to invent stuff). I'm a huge Fred fan, and loved when she was more than that, but truth be told, she could be totally content where you have her, very useful, and it made me smile to picture it as a better fate. Well done!
Comments from author:
Oh, thank you. I am just so glad that you liked enough that you would have recommended it. Fred is my all time favorite character (TV, movies, books) and this fic was just -fun- to write. I really prefer to think of Fred being elsewhere (and happy) instead of her soul being consumed by Illyria rebirth (which is a sucky death for anyone).

Thank you for your kind words! :)

This is pretty fun and a nice way to give Fred a little life after Illyria. Loved the bit with J'onn and Kareoke.
Comments from author:
Thanks laylark, it was lots of fun to write. I've found that FFA's such as this one (it was a Fred-Alfred Pennyworth) are a good way to jump start those neat little ideas that just role really well when nothing else wants to come to you, writing-wise. As for the kareoke bit, well, I have quite the fondness for the random Fred-Lorne friendship bits of 'Angel'.

Thanks again for taking the time to review!

WRT your comments on Joe's review - honestly, comic book continuity is so loose that "a general pop culture knowledge of the characters" is enough to work with. Sure, that means you may disregard Neckbeard X's favorite plot twist from Spandex Undies Lineup #1334, but you're also skipping the one Neckbeard Y absolutely hated in Musclehead Tales #99. As long as you feel satisfied with your ability to tell the story you want to tell, that's enough. Seriously, it can't be worse than (at least!) half the pro comics out there.

For my part, I find this to be a nice character establishing piece, able to stand on its own but suitable as a foundation if you have a larger story to tell.

Sorry for taking so long to respond to your comment, I try to keep up with any reviews I get but I've been kinda out of it lately. So, now that my excuses are out of the way, I would like to thank you for your lovely feedback - I really do appreciate it. I have worried about writing for a fandom that I am not truly fluent in and having not read any of the comics....

I believe you're right though and if I do get a solid story in my head I won't let my lack of knowledge of comic continuity stop me.

Thanks again for taking the time to comment. :)

This needs a sequel.
Comments from author:
Thanks Joe, I appreciate that you think this little bit has potential for more. I actually wrote it as a simple FFA one-shot when I was procrastinating on my other fics, but I have to admit that this story line has been lurking around in my head so I might end up writing more with it. Part of my problem is I have no real solid knowledge of the whole DC universe, only a sort of general pop culture familiarity with the characters. Still I have an abiding fascination/love for Poison Ivy so it is not unlikely that I'll pop out a sequel to this just so I can play with that. *laughs*

Thanks for taking the time to review. :)

Loved this lots.
Comments from author:
Don't know how I possibly missed this comment. I do like to comment back to all of them and you know I always appreciate your continued feedback, HarmMarie. So, I do apologized for the late late response but I'm terribly glad you liked my little one-shot. Fred in the Batmanverse was just plain fun to write.

Perfect :-)

I like this as an ending for Fred: If She can't be Fred in her own universe then at least she might exist as herself in another universe.

Fred making friends with all of Bruce's friends and acquaintances was really nice too.

I enjoyed it very much.
Comments from author:
Fred was one of my favorite tv characters, hands down. It's kind of fun to think of her kicking around with Alfred and Wonder Woman. *laughs*

Thanks for your lovely review!

I like your take on Fred and I *love* this story. VERY well done! I appreciate good Bat stories and Fred as a character was very underused... Thanks for writing a great one today!
Comments from author:
Aww, thank you. I was a bit worried since I've never actually read the comics so I'm glad it turned out alright.

Also, I poked your challenges and I *adored* Madeline L'Engle as a child. 'The Time Quartet' still remain some of my favorite books And I also enjoyed the 'Dark is Rising' series (except the ending. Come on Susan Cooper, the kids who saved the day just forget everything they fought so hard for? Bah.). I will have to add that to my list of crossovers to write - any I do though will probably be Fred (or possibly Willow) centric. I seem to have a fondness. :)

Thanks for taking the time to review!

Awww, I love the idea that Fred didn't just disappear when Illyria took over. That was kind of a sucky thing to do to her on the show.
Comments from author:
I've always thought so, too. I'm starting to be afraid I'm niche-ing myself though - I think half the stuff I've written here is Fred surviving in some way when Illyria took over. Whether it be her being bumped over somewhere else, it being stopped somehow, a new life, etc. I just can't seem to stop trying to write the girl figuring her life out a bit and actually getting a fair shake of it. *grins*

Thanks for reviewing, I really appreciate the feedback.
