Willow's a person who happens to think Buffy/Angel was a great thing, despite having nevr heard of good demons before him. She's experienced enough actual evil and seen enough monsters I don't think she'd just take someone's word on something that would involve the slaughter of humans. Especially since she's Jewish and season 3 of the show showed she doesn't have a whole ton of respect for her parents views of things.
I think you do a strong disservice to Willow and the Scoobies giving them the traditional Marvelverse reaction to mutants
edit: some people are smart enough to see through bull****. I have a hard time believing the anti-mutant prejudice of the background fillers of the MU, I can't believe it of characters I know

Willow's been bombarded with 'evil mutant' stories for most of her life but since very few people believe demons, vampires etc are real there hasn't been any large social pressure against them meaning Willow can start with a blank slate for them compared to mutants. Also she had the revelation suddenly sprung on her which rarely allows for calm, unpanicked reactions.

Poor Oz, I was really hoping that Willow would be on his side.
What does she do? She freaks out over the fact that he's a mutant. In canon, she was more accepting of him being a werewolf! I mean really!
A werewolf is a cursed human, who turns into a hominid type wolf once a month that is driven to hunt down and eat humans.
A mutant who can change into a wolf doesn't have that issue. They still pretty much have their own identity; only bite in self defense; and don't eat people!
I love the part where Cordelia started spouting the rhetoric about sterilizing mutants.
Shows she has the same outlook as the Nazis did during the Second World War. They sterilized untold thousands of Jews, in order to get rid of the race, when they weren't killing them outright.
I was expecting Willow to make that point, considering that she IS Jewish, but she always struck me as a weenie when it came to stuff like that.
Can't wait for the sequel. I'd like to see Buffy, Xander and Giles reaction to the news about Oz. Because Willow is sure to blab about it.

Willow's been raised in a society where she and everyone else has been bombarded with 'evil mutant' stories, so while Willow can be considered a liberal the situation is more like Thomas Jefferson being a liberal but still owning slaves. Also she wouldn't have been raised to believe in werewolves so her opinion would be a blank slate there.

Oh. Poor Oz. I love him, and this story makes me want to hunt him down and give him a hug, though it does make me wonder if other mutants in the Buffy-verse were mistaken for demons.

Interesting. Look forward to seeing where you take this. It should occur to Oz, however, that he does have a fallback story if caught - at least if it's at night around the full moon - he can claim he's a werewolf. Not exactly sure if that's *better* (as far as possibly-prejudiced reactions go), but it's an idea...
